It appears that 100msec (fiber optic speed approx 1/2 way around the world) was too slow to keep up with the financial markets last Thursday. http://fridayinvegas.blogspot.com/2010/05/market-speed-bumps.html?showCommen... Financial trading is based on a Newtonian model where pricing is the same everywhere at the same time. Fiber optic speed is about 2/3 c, so one could presumably get a slight edge by using radio waves. If one were on the other side of the Earth, one could presumably get an edge if one could somehow utilize neutrinos to communicate. But sooner or later, this Newtonian pricing model has to be dispensed with. I've seen zero discussion of this issue, as of yet.
