[math-fun] Mathematica CDF player
I'm considering implementing a solid honeycomb / 3-D tiling demo for the CDF player, and soliciting feedback concerning how well it works for author and user. I also wonder how in practice casual users might feel about going to the trouble of downloading this player to view interactive video material. Fred Lunnon

I still haven't downloaded the thing despite dozens of posts here that use it. I think the download rate would be very very small. -- Mike Stay - metaweta@gmail.com http://math.ucr.edu/~mike https://reperiendi.wordpress.com
<< I still haven't downloaded the thing ... >> Nor have I --- now why might that be? True, I have only recently become aware of its existence. However, other factors include (1) Lack of trust? Hardly a deal-breaker in this case. But for a less well-known source, I would need to search for reviews and specifically malware warnings beforehand. (2) The download site insists that I agree to their terms & conditions. So I am going to have to wade through those first (if I can even make sense of them, let alone foresee all their implications). (3) On top of which they start demanding profiling information: maybe just a short questionnaire, but ahead of time there is no way to tell whether there's a bunch more to follow. By this stage, I have usually long ago lost interest. 25 years after VRML and Java, despite considerable improvement in hardware and browser performance, progress towards transparently available user-configurable interaction has if anything been backwards! If you make a Demonstration, it will either work in Cloud Mathematica now, or it will eventually. Plugins have been dropped by all browsers, so everything has to work in pure javascript/SVG. --Ed Pegg Jr On Wed, Apr 17, 2019 at 12:14 PM Fred Lunnon <fred.lunnon@gmail.com> wrote:
