I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. I met Richard Crandall only once, at the first (and AFAIK only) experimental mathematics conference, of which Bailey and J. Borwein were organizers, in I think 2004. The oddest thing is that, expecting to be in Portland, Oregon sometime in the next few months, I was just thinking about Richard Crandall yesterday for the first time in years -- that I should contact him to try to arrange to get together when I'm there. --Dan On 2012-12-22, at 9:59 AM, rcs@xmission.com wrote:
