Jon, this is a nice idea. But you seem to be unaware of the most basic concept in mathematics -- proof. If you can PROVE this idea is true -- by defining which operations you mean precisely, and showing they preserve topological equivalence, and then showing that any other simply-connected manifold can be reached through these operations, THEN and only then have you proved this.
