So the doomsday argument gives the same answer to questions which we know have different answers, like "what's the expected time until humans are extinct?" "what's the expected time until humans are extinct on earth?", "what's the expected time until there is no intelligent life on earth?". and we know that sensible estimates of these are larger for some than for others.
