It's common knowledge in tennis that (other things being equal) the worse your opponent is at predicting where you'll hit the ball, the better you'll do. Judging from the abstract, that article is about the inherent tactical value of various different serves, not the importance of using mixed as opposed to pure strategies (i.e., not always serving the same way).
