Karlheinz Stockhausen must be one of the must boring musicians [...] What I've heard from him is nothing but noise crap,

Enqrique, no personal offence intended, but you really need to try to educate yourself about the possibilities of expression via sound before you start ranting like that!
None taken. I'm sorry about that ranting part.. I probably got it from the outbreaks that usually hit this list from time to time... but at least I contained myself before I asked someone to shut up. I see your point and thanks for the advice, but believe me, God knows I've tried, specially when I was single and had lots of free time (it was more like a torture really, aspirins included and all), but I just didn't get it, or maybe didn't wanted to get it or just didn't care enough to get it. Music to me is either enjoyable or not. That sort of music IMHO is not, which is probably a pity, because like you've said, there are major rewards waiting to those willing to listen; so for now, for me extended noise and / or silence in a CD is trash, and I'm standing by it. That sort of stuff, does not belong in my living room, nor in my car, nor my headphones. To each their own. Agree?
or lack of meaning. Your comments are akin to [...] Dali's scenarios were unrealistic and Rueben's women need to go on a diet.
That's pretty funny, but at any rate, what's wrong with saying any of those things anyway? I mean, after all those scenarios were unrealistic ones, and those women were, by today's standards, overweight, right? Just kidding... (or am I?) Relax and enjoy the ride. Cheers to that! Enrique

I can't imagine what you mean! :-/ No need to apologise for ranting, it's just a bit of an issue for me that the majority of people want an Easy Listen, and if they don't get immediate gratification, will dismiss the music as not meeting their demands (no flame intended against you here, Enrique, it's just that your email reminded me of that general attitude towards music).

It's your choice, and your tastes cannot be questioned if you give the "difficult" stuff a chance. But remember that sound can appear to be "noise" in the same way that sense can appear to be "nonsense" - depending to a large degree upon the listener! I must admit that I don't have Stockhausen blasting out of the stereo much myself. For all the musical worth, sometimes one just has to relax... :-D Kevin
