The only ACTUAL case of Kraftwerk putting the breaks on an album release was with the Electric Cafe set. It was really more of a case of KW just dragging their feet with post production (one of the reasons that led to Karl Bartos leaving the band). According to my sources at Warner Brothers, the album was SUPPOSED to be completed and ready for promotion and release in late '83 or early '84. The album had been completed in '85 but wasn't released until '86. According to Warner Brothers, they had announced a release date but that was cancelled by the band and they opted for a later release...those reasons are known only to KW, I'm sure. It's nearly impossible to get information directly from KW sources and their official website tells nothing. I've spoken to my record rep with EMI/Elektra and according to them, they "have no current information on a new Kraftwerk album". So, perhaps, KW is working on new material but has yet to present it to their record company. Let's all keep hoping, praying, meditating or whatever helps the process along! __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? KW is no longer at Elektra in the USA--they're back to an EMI subsidiary, Astralweks/Virgin/EMI for the US (remember "Expo Remix"?) Besides, they don't sell enough for a WEA label to have a vested interest in their promotion! Peace.
