Oh, you misunderstood me, I'm not saying they should conceal their influences. Some tracks came dangerously close to being copies though, and in interviews they always just said they didn't understand and were sick of being compared to Kraftwerk. Or at least, that was the impression I got. / petter At 16:15 2002-10-01 +0200, arthur brehm wrote:
why should they conceal their influence? the same phenomenon stepped also with the German band "software" up: influence of jarre, kraftwerk, schulze etc.. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Petter Duvander" <petter.duvander@home.se> To: <kraftwerk@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 01, 2002 4:08 PM Subject: Re: [Kraftwerk] komputer
It's very... hrm... let's just say that it's quite obvious who was their main influence. ;) The main difference between Komputer and Kraftwerk would be that the latter's dry german sense of humour has been replaced by a dry english dito. But as I said, I think you'd be disappointed if you took a listen to Komputer's new album "Market led". It's not bad, but it's not even close to the same genre.

has anyone of you visited the concert of 'Komputer' (funny kraftwerk sound-a-likes) in brussels, some years ago ?
No, but I saw them twice in Sweden. Pity they've gone for a techno sound of their own on the new album, I liked the Kraftwerky stuff. Komputer did it like no one else could. Then again, there wasn't that many KW-songs left to steal from. ;)

I thought that too, but based on what others have said, Komputer may have been employing sarcasm when they said that. Their Kraftwerk influence is so obvious, it's a joke to deny it. :) -- /* Soleil */
