RE: [Kraftwerk] Tour de France '03 and Expo 2000
How much money on the next KW LP being about the Germany World Cup in 2006?. I can imagine the vocodered voices now... "Breitner..Beckenbauer...Klinsmann.." Hang on a minute, they've only got 3 years to write it, that's out of contention then..... -----Original Message----- From: Nicolau Centola [mailto:ncentola@terra.com.br] Sent: 20 June 2003 00:08 To: owlwatcher_974@lycos.com; Music, non-stop. Subject: Re: [Kraftwerk] Tour de France '03 and Expo 2000 Yes, I can agree with you, but why release an album about TdF after 20 years? IF the "brand new songs" are about the race too, it's ok... but if not, TdF 03 will seems like a good opportunity to make some money. I would prefer a new album with a leitmitv, another center theme, not TdF, a topic about they spoke 20 years ago... Same song, same sleeve... oh, come on... is it really a NEW albom, or just a new tdf single, to get some extra money at the 100th race, with some bonus tracks (the new ones)? No problem with private mails... :-) peace Nicolau www.kraftworld.hpg.com.br ----- Original Message ----- From: "owlwatcher_974" <owlwatcher_974@lycos.com> To: "Nicolau Centola" <ncentola@terra.com.br>; "Music, non-stop." <kraftwerk@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, June 19, 2003 7:48 PM Subject: Re: [Kraftwerk] Tour de France '03 and Expo 2000
I would prefer to think that the new Tour de France may have something to do with Ralf's love of the race rather than selling out and just doing a song for money. I realize that they did basically sellout for Expo 2000 .. but Tour de France is different ... they're not writing just to be writing... they're writing about something Ralf loves. This is far different than just throwing together a song for whatever event offers them money.

------------- The same thing happened when Sly & the Family Stone didn't produce albums due to drugs and high living. Epic Records filled the gap with a Greatest Hits which went double platinum and selling old releases with "modern" cover art. Amir
