There is one line that is bothering me:
the mountain, the valleys
It would make more sense if it was:
the mountains, the valleys ?
Not sure. Just a suggestion.
In french it's mountain as a whole, as it's a partitive question I won't thread on this. Can a native english speaker can give us the answer? le 09/07/2003 02:26, Hiroshi MURATA à hiroshi@pobox.com a écrit :
Good day all,
It's about 3 am here ;)
Small question about the very first line of the lyrics; Won't it be "radio tower information" since it better fits with the context of the following line?
Radio-tour information Transmission television
(Excuse me if I'm incorrect. I only learnt French on an one year course - eleven years before!)
Hahaaa got you! Wish I'd be as good as you in Japanese ;))) Radio Tour is the radio station of the Tour de France. So it seems (I'm not a bike fan so ;)

"Radio Tour" is not a radio station for the public, it's simply the radio information service for all the escort cars, motos, journalists and so on, provided by the tour management. Jan from quite in the middle of Hamburg

It explains why there's nothing on the site of the Tour :D

the stages are passed quickly*
mmhh... yes if you want, but no, not exact... ;-) literally: 'the stages are burnt' - *imo* still the best translation as no other could be satisfying and could 'make more sense' anyway. *fyi* "brûler les étapes" is a current idiomatic phrase (that means something like 'to press on') ...never used around the cycling world(!): here it actually sounds just like a fine word joke ! :-)))) *thanks to Maxime Schmitt(?)*
And the race is under way
and the race is *really* started...
the chronometrated runners
timed riders
for the truth telling
for the "truth" trial
the mountain, the valleys
mountainS... ;-)
the great passes, the defiles
ok ;-)
the red flame is overrunned
or: overtaken red flame...
yellow shirt at the finish
yellow *jersey*, please ;-) (*btw* shirts are rather for journalists, not TdF riders!! >:-)))
It's better but some points are bothering me (see * on the peculiar words)
logical: the idiomatic question. ;-)
I'm sure it can still be made better :)

trouble is it's idiomatic in French but not very English
the chronometrated runners timed riders
better with a dictionnary :)
for the truth telling for the "truth" trial
a bit too into Dune ;)
the mountain, the valleys mountainS... ;-)
That damn partitive :D
the great passes, the defiles ok ;-)

Jargon ! ;) (dictionnaries, where are you when needed?)

As Miguel pointed out and to be coherent, if we keep Radio Tour, we should keep Maillot Jaune Instead of arging on clothes ;) If our English fellow could make the relay? ;) Denis U] ================================================ lepetitmartien M.I.C. http://www.macmusic.org

Why thanks to Maxime Schmitt?
Because he is an old 'frenchie friend' of Ralf & Florian who helps them to write all K'-french lyrics since 1976, listen: "nous sommes les mannequins !" ;-))) *btw* Schmitt was probably the very first, last summer (I mean last year...) to give the tip *not a rumour* about the new album (!) *hehehe* (interview in "Sound-keys" #2 - a french music & technology mag ) I've just read it again: Maxime said that the next album (sounding great like all typical Kw tracks) was (almost) finished, but Ralf & Florian decided to delay the release date (apparently planned first before last Christmas...), and to rework on it with some new equipment... I'm still wondering if that album was the actual TdF one... BUT... he also gave an interesting clue when he talked about... "Tour de France": the first (achieved) Tour de France album was planned 20 years ago, but has been cancelled (in despite the strong concept within) due to 'desagreements': Karl and Wolfgang began at this time to have bad feeling and negative attitude (wrong claims...). -according to Schmitt- they did be responsible for those big Kw "troubles". So, for the album, if it was ok for Ralf and Maxime, Florian was not sure... therefore they decided to release the single only :-/ However it seems the TdF album project never died, as Maxime said: ³the album WILL be RELEASED one day, maybe NEXT, under new "aesthetics"²... [oops! I begin to understand now why he asserted that... ;-)] Maybe, perhaps, _ /o o\ Filtre4Pole \ ~ / I I - -
