Re: [Kraftwerk] New discovery leads to speculation...
...could it be that Kraftwerk were intending to release "Tanzmusik" as their first single, but later scrapped the plan?
It ALWAYS amazes me that little gems like this keep appearing!.. What an amazing find! So.. the FACT that there is an acetate would certainly lead us to believe that a release of Tanzmusik as a single was being thought about! But then again, could it not be for a small private release?... maybe an engineer made it up as a one off? (I don't know if this is possible... I'm just putting it forward as an idea?)
Are there any facts hidden somewhere suggesting that this is a plausible idea?
It IS a plausible idea... but.. right now the only FACT we have is that an acetate exists.. What it was produced for... we can all speculate on (and that's fun!).. unless someone has some documentation lurking about in the back of a drawer.....? Keep Werking John www.keepwerking.co.uk

Yeah! I'm amazed as well!! Now, all I want is Technopop ;)

The best "proof" that something was in the works is the inscription on the back saying "REJECT". This leads me into believing that there were actually plans for this one, but they were rejected. Also, this disc was part of a bigger lot of approximately 60 other acetates. They were all neatly packaged and sealed to prevent damage, neatly numbered from 1 to 60-something (Tanzmusik being 18). This and the story I've got from the seller (who is a very serious dealer) leads me into believing that these lot of discs may be a personal collection of the records this engineer worked on? That's what I would do as an engineer anyway :) Cheers, Peo
