Re: [Kraftwerk] German versions
So I guess any real KW fan should also get the german albums.
I consider myself a real fan but I "only" have the English language albums. I simply will not waste money on buying albums that I have already. Rob. _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com

Rob.
There's a difference between being a "fan" and being a "collector". With a limited budget, and so much good music out there, getting multiple versions of the same album should not be a priority for a "fan". For someone who collects, however, the German (or English) version is essential. There are hardcore fans who don't even own all of the LPs, let alone each version. Personally, I wouldn't turn down a German copy, but I wouldn't pay $15 when I can get brand new music (to me) for the same price. -Eric

Nobody not owning and loving the German albums can be a real fan. Kraftwerk are just SO much better in German... I can barely listen to the English versions of RA/TEE/TMM! /Peo

If we are talking about the original albums, there is only ONE version of RA - in german AND english language, afaik. Jan -- feel free to visit http://reetze.bei.t-online.de http://www.felix-bloch-erben.de

Agree. I learnt german at school but can just understand a little bit. However, I like german language, german pronunciation very much and I think the german language is perfect for KW's mechanical music. Wir sind die Roboter better follow the song beat than We are the Robots. Just a personal opinion there.

I, as well, only own the English albums. I'd love to get my hands on German copies, but it is hard to do in America. I've tried importing several times, and no luck. I can see if you are in England, it seems easier to find German copies, but in America its really hard. Well, if you really want them, try Groove Unlimited (www.groove.nl). They're not particulary cheap ($ 20.49 per album, plus $ 2.95 shipping), but they've got all the German versions and they're reliable in my experience (of course, I live in the Netherlands :-) ). Of course you should have "both" language versions. Listen to the different lyrics, the use of words, the rhymes. And, especially in case of "TEE", you have different covers. Gruesse aus Wien, Georgie
www.jpc.de also can provide you the german releases of KW LP's and I think they are cheaper.

Hearing the German versions is completely different to hearing the English versions and sometimes there are differences... Computer Worlds "Pocket Calculator" lasts a little longer... "The Model" has that extra 'vocal'.. to mention two (albeit small)... If you haven't heard the German versions then you really shouldn't be saying that it's a waste. You really ARE missing out! If you have heard them... surely you must admit that they 'feel' different? If you can't then..... oh well..... never mind. For those who have only heard one language sung, I would ask you to seek others out and give them a listen.. and make up your own mind! Keep Werking John www.keepwerking.co.uk
