Coachella LIVE recording (was: RE: [Kraftwerk] Kraftwerk "At the Cirkus" 2-CD)
Gang, FYI, The link to the May 1st Coachella recording first appeared on the excellent sharingthegroove.org website. Then, someone posted that BitTorrent link on the Coachella message board site (that's when I found out about it) on May 9th. They were FLAC files and some people complained about that fact. A day later, a member from the Coachella message board, did something he was not supposed to (as a rule, sharing the groove asks their members not to sell the audio files nor to convert them to MP3's) and re-encoded all the files to MP3's and posted them on his hushreality link. At the Sahara tent, at the concert itself, I was only a few meters away from boldcaptian, the guy who recorded this (he had a big hat on him, a hat that he would not take off under no circumstances, if you know what I mean). Yes, the recording quality is the best one I've ever heard and if you burn it without gaps, it'll fit on one 80 min CD just right. I've already traded this CD-R with a few from this very list, along with a CD-R including pics from the concert. If you are up to the challenge of dealing with an even bigger file (~850 Mb BitTorrent), I recommend also for you to search for the Toronto Ricoh concert in Canada, April 2004. Search for Kraftwerk on sharingthegroove.org and you'll see it. Great quality recording as well. That recording has a lot more songs in it. Please don't convert it to MP3, nor sell bootlegs from it. Thanks, E a.k.a. gaucho_pop

Maybe I'm being naive but whats the big deal with FLACS vs MP3's anyway? For Recordings of Indeterminate Origin it's pretty much a given that recording quality is not going to be equable to a conventional release so why are people so snotty about it? Just asking.. all b**tlegs sound pretty much the same on seperates anyway M

FLAC - F_ree L_ossless A_udio C_odec Well, since flac is a LOSSLESS codec you don't LOOSE any quality from a digital recording when sharing it. You could basicly make a digital to digital cop yof CD uing FLAC. .WAV is a properitary format that belongs to Bill G, avoid it :) I can agree with you that many bootlegs sounds like shit but even then I might want the best possible quality of that shit, so I prefer a LOSSLESS copy of it :) Regards! -- //Robert
I'm very happy this person did this as the network from my university bloks all torrent files g A day later, a member from the Coachella message board, did something he was not supposed to (as a rule, sharing the groove asks their members not to sell the audio files nor to convert them to MP3's) and re-encoded all the files to MP3's and posted them on his hushreality link. -------------------- Reporter: Who ends up with the most chicks after the show, you or your android?
