I already imagined this: Steinberg VST´s virtual instruments technology is a big electronic musica thing, as much, that this being adopted for other sequencers like Logic for example.
The great advantage on the conventional musical hardware is an infinite capacity of combinations depending only on the power of each CPU.
"only on the power"...and that's the problem: you need a VERY STRONG computer hardware configuration to run properly a virtual studio - Until now, I think that a subtle combination "audio-software"/"audio-hardware" is still the more judicious one (and less expansive too ). Nevertheless, in the future I guess my opinion will change
Thousands of plug-ins since effect´s processors to complete analog electronic instruments simulators.
Maybe they will go to use diverse computers equipped with VST synchronized with a master who will control the videos.
and (imo) the "master" will be Cubase SX Greetings, Filtre4Pole
