I think I can count myself among the old-timers - I bought my first KW album (TEE) in 1977.
In my opinion, "The Mix" is, er, a "mix" of good and bad. "The Robots" and "Radioactivity" are an example of well-reworked tracks, they're danceable and groovy. "Pocket calculator" is good too. On the other hand, the new versions of "Autobahn" and "TEE" seem to lose most of their magic (though I love the cheesy "voco-yodel" choirs in Autobahn ;-).
Yes, "Autobahn" definitely loses magic except for the 2nd cheesy yodels...I dont care for the regular yodels after the radio verse... I think the "Trans-Europe Express" vocoded speech is magnificent on The Mix version...I like their choice to leave out Iggy Pop and Bowie's name, too. The Mix shouldn't have had Dentaku and should have had The Model or Neon Lights instead... Signed, omegaChance http://www.mp3.com/omegaChance
