I don't think it is at all homophobic. And there is nothing wrong with being homosexual. It is only a "smear" if you yourself are homophobic.
And besides, I think you'll find it was a joke.

Well Oh Jay, Wolfgang appears to be inferring in his e-mail that Dirk Matten is a homosexual. You have conveniently ignored this very unpleasant and obvious remark. As someone who has been smeared by my peers over my sexuality I know full well what this feels like. Should Dirk sue the homophobic bastard for every euro he has got?

I also did not take his remark as homophobic. There was so much discussion about photos, so I would have made the same exact remark!
I, for one, was delighted to see a post from Wolfgang. I don't think I've ever been on a list that a band member has posted on, and it was an opportunity to hear from an artist from a most amzing band.
Thank you Wolfgang and to Klaus for facilitating this message.

Talking about stereotypes... I don't agree with you. Freedom of speech is one of the many freedoms the Bill of Rights gives people in our Constitution. As a matter of fact, everyone in the world should be entitled to their opinion, even dear old Wolfgang. Don't agreeing with it is another thing, but at least voices should be heard without restrictions. Come to think of it, you had more troubles in this list with European members than with Americans, am I correct? Same with Wolfgang, but then again, he doesn't miss a chance to throw a poisoned arrow to this side of the world... (read the first sentence of this e-mail).

Klaus Zaepke, do you agree with him? I know you don't.
Dirk answered:
I got this from Ralf & Florian AND Conny Plank, perhaps these persons don't tell the truth. Sorry, if I was wrong.
For what I can tell, Ralf and Florian only want people to see what they want to show. Religion and government sure comes to mind, but that's a whole different issue... or is it? Do as I say, not as I do...

Speaking of whiners, dear Tom... I don't think Wolfie tries to blame anything on anybody, all he did in his book is show the other side of the band, the human side, the side Ralf and Florian want to hide from the public eye. Also, he wanted to set the record straight; he told the world where some credits truly belong. I'm pretty sure you'd be pissed if somebody else takes credit for one of your ideas. Not everyone reacts the same. You probably won't care, and I respect that. He wrote a book about it, and I respect that too. Is that too hard to understand? Thankfully, the judge on this case got it right, and gave Wolfie a pad on the back, instead of a fine.

It is very difficult to tell jokes in e-mails unless they are explained. It is possible that the entire e-mail was light-hearted, but more likely that it was a threatening e-mail, therefore I doubt if that is a joke at the end of it, that would make no sense.
I am not homophobic, I am very liberal.

I support freedom period and saying what you think and believe in, is a big part of it. Wolfgang and Dirk have their own believes and they are entitled to express them freely, as long as they don't step into forbidden territory, everything should be OK. I know there's a fine line between what should be allowed or not, and since we are all mature people here, the right to decide what's legitimate to say or not should be left at the speakers will, agree?
I feel extremely lucky to be in a position where I can read Wolfgang's and Dirk's believes. I might agree with them or not, but hey that's not the point here. The point is letting people express themselves, whether they are right or not, in fact Dirk even said here: "I got this from Ralf & Florian AND Conny Plank, perhaps these persons don't tell the truth. Sorry, if I was wrong ..." so you see, even he can admit the possibility of making a mistake.
I know Dirk and Wolfgang are both thankful at having a chance to express themselves here. oh jay, please don't try to take away the very thing that makes a discussion list like this one a valuable one.
