omegaChance was all, like:
I thought Radioactivity didnt too well on the charts...
The album reached #1 in France, shifting some 100.000 units and earning Kraftwerk a gold disc. Their French label manager, Maxime Schmitt, convinced Jean-Loup Lafont to adopt "Radioactivity" as a theme for his Europe 1 radio show, helping the single to sell a million copies in France alone; in December '76, "Radioactivity" was voted album of the year in France by the listeners of said programme. It peaked at #22 in Germany and at #140 in the US.
EXACT! Radio-Activity = BIG success in France (the only one however...) ...and that's reminds me a little private anecdote: Once upon a time... the little red riding hood... euh? no... again: Back to the 70's ( my childhood! ) I remember: it was in june 1976. I've just received my very first radio set ( gift! ). So, listening to the famous Europe#1 radio station, I could hear those "strange" sounds: "dong-dong-dong-dong... bip-beep-bip-bip-beep-..." ???*enjoyed*enjoyed* I thought: what? does electronic music exist? "Radioactivity"!...I just realised I was (already!) a K'fan, even if I was still unable to put a correct name on that genial band from Germany ('Kraf.?.erg?';-)) Since then, I've always payed attention to THE sound: listening - not only to (mainly electronic) music - but also to all kind of "noises" I could hear: birds, cars, trains, wind, rain... ...and even John Cage's "4:33";-)) Two years later, came my very first K'album: "Autobahn" *enjoyed*enjoyed* Do you remember, when/how you really discovered Kraftwerk? ;-) (Boring question, isn't it?) ...maybe, perhaps, _ /o o\ Filtre4Pole \ ~ / I I - -
