Besides, any music that is not played on purely digital instruments (e.g. "constructed" sounds) started their life as analog, since sound itself is analog ;)
-------------------- Interesting...the real world IS analog! This may mean that digital will always be inherently inferior to real, continuous sound waves! I've always felt this way. But I do find value in digital audio. I just happen to prefer analog in many respects (certain albums, instruments, etc.)
On the plus side, CD's aren't destroyed by needles, and most human ears in the human marketplace can't tell the difference anyway. Except for us KW audiophiles, of course! I suppose I would have to admit I'm one of those Kraftwerk audiophiles. Sadly, I can hear these minute differences we're talking about. Its almost embarrassing at times. :-D
Maybe a good comparison of digital to analog is floury white bread compared to grains/wheat bread. All the vitamins and minerals are washed out in white bread and after 70 years, the crud adds 5 pounds to the walls of the intestinal system;
not natural like the colon cleansing grains & fiber-loaded wheat bread.
Maybe not so good a comparison...he he Whew! I'm glad I only eat wheat bread. Hmmmm, I wonder if there's some connection of a wheat bread diet and audiophile listening tastes. :)
There is currently a device (a cochlea implant) which helps deaf people to hear... this is tested by passing an electrical current through some wires.. the patient "hears" a noise...
Therefore in years to come it would be possible to have music "heard" direct from a keyboard or other electronic instruments.
Well.. that's my opinion anyway! Wow. What a thought. We can all have S/PDIF or AES/EBU connectors in the back of our heads! :-P
