"First new album in 17 years", people who say that have absolutely no clue...
What do you mean? The Mix was a remix compilation, not "a new album" as such. You say the article is wrong about that?
In my humble opinion The Mix was certainly a "new album". It is more
than a
simple remix compilation. A remix album is usually a producers reworking of master recordings. I think of The Mix as a concept album. An interpretation of KW by KW themselves (KW through the looking glass!). The album may use previous compositions, but it is digital rerecordings creating new sounds by the artists themselves. I think that concept has been lost on a lot of people.
I think you are over-interpretating too much. The Mix has no new compositions on it, and that is what matter to the simplified thinking of a music journalist. "A lot of people" is not who we talk about here, but the general press, who need to simplify matters for the general audience. Thus, The Mix does not count as a "new album", no matter how much artistic merit you think went into it.

Yes Glenn I agree with what you say. I did say that I "would not like to say the article was wrong" I just had my own view. My little essay was for the KW mailing list and not for the "general audience" fed by the "simplified thinking of the music journalist". I really don't care what the music press say, I don't really like pop/rock music anyway and I think KW are well above what goes on in that environment. Just wondered if the dedicated KW observers shared my point of view, "a lot of people" reffered to a lot of the KW mailing list. I wouldn't expect the readers of the general music press to accept my indepth or over-interpetion of KW (or any other music group for that mater). And probably "a lot of people" on the KW list will think I've got head up Herr Hutters arse as well. But hell I only ever write to the list every four years so (and I usually inadvertantly end up creating a flame war as well). So anyway I agree with both of you. It just depends in whether you are part of the "general audiance" or true kw enthusiasts I suppose. ian t .k _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail messages direct to your mobile phone http://www.msn.co.uk/msnmobile
