No, it is *not* like what producers and engineers do. Mastering is a separate step done by a mastering engineer *after* the producer and recording engineer is done with their job. Mastering basically is two steps; beefing up the sound, sharpening or softening certain frequencies, adjusting the volume of each track so you dont have to adjust the volume button when you play the final CD, compressing sound, generally adding more of the x factor to the final mix, but not changing the mix. The second step is to add PQ codes to a CDR which forms the basis of the glass master from which the final CD is pressed. Glenn
