Simply one thing: Even today every kindergarten kid can still sing "Autobahn".

I'd beg to differ. Whenever you mention the name Kraftwerk to non-Kraftwerk-fans they always go (if they've heard of them at all) "ah, vee are ze robots". Seems to be the tune most closely linked to them at least here in the UK. And show me ONE kindergarten kid who can sing Autobahn! ;)
My personal experience here in the Southwest is that of the few people I know that actually are into music, they only remember the Autobahn song, and when they saw me first carrying KW CD's they were like: "wow! that's an old band I didn't even knew they existed anymore" and went on to sign the famous Autobahn chorus. Of the few German friends I have here, they remember only Autobahn and The Model, this last one in it's entirety I might add. Kids? I know a few who can sing that Beach Boys tune that sounds a LOT like Autobahn, that's all. My 4 year old really enjoys Karl's "15 minutes of fame" by the way... E
