OK, no chance of doing a "live" DVD, but what about a DVD itself? An interactive one at that as well? We've seen with the website, although it is extremely minimal, that you can play around with sounds. Perhaps they might release a DVD with 2 hours of material on there with the videos from the live shows. I know this is pure speculation, but when you consider that Kraftwerk's appeal is the on the level of "Gesamtkunstwerk", i.e both visual and aural levels, DVD is now the optimum format in which to release material, and that's why they've not done videos before, because of the poor sound quality of VHS etc. They take such care with their appearance at live shows, that I can't see why the same logic can't be applied here. ----- Original Message ----- From: <anthony.ristic@btopenworld.com> To: <kraftwerk@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2002 1:53 PM Subject: [Kraftwerk] KW Likelihood of forthcoming releases
Hi all,
It's astounding how quickly the list turned to shite after what was a good period (before, during and after the recent KW live shows).
I remember my first posting at the beginning of this year. I got this really hyper-sensitive and babyish reaction from Oh Jay. He had some credible things to say and I respected his views at the time but man, this guy obviously lacks the maturity to 'not take people and their scribblings at FACE VALUE'.
A list like this is meant to be a place where you can sound off if you want but Jesus, I do not expect every single thing I say to be scrutinized and put into a wider context.
So shut the fuck up Oh Jay, OK? lay low for a while, all you seem to do is criticize and think of negative things to say about people's suggestions and ideas. If a guy said that he spoke to Florian, and a new album may be in the pipeline, well MAYBE IT IS. There's no need to shout them down and adopt a bisbelieving tone.
My second posting was to inform fellow subscribers that I had bought tickets to the Paris shows. Just to inform everyone about the PROCESS which may have been helpful. Oh Jay comes out with - I still don't believe these concerts will actually take place until I hear it from EMI/Sony themselves. Keep listening out dude.
Right, I will not respond to any flame return mail - let me make that clear - that is how to avoid shitemail.
As for a new album, and I have no sound basis or evidence on which to base this let me make that clear; Is it not LIKELY, given the wonderful use of digital sound at recent KW shows, that we are really due for a KW live double vinyl, cd and 5.1 DVD incorporating their classics and perhaps 2,3 or 4 new songs but within the 'live' context. I will put money on the fact that they will not use any recordings made during the Paris shows BECAUSE HARDLY ANYONE WAS DANCING AND THE ATMOSPHERE AMONGST THE CROWD SUCKED!
To get the list back to some level of interest, does anyone have any reports from the Luxembourg show. Did it actually take place? What's the story there?
