Not much news from the book signing really, barely any questions, but they did reveal what they're doing with part 3 of the trilogy. "To my left is a balding man with missing teeth. He carries with him the air of a bewildered academic, and a soft scottish accent. He's wearing a green tweed three piece suit (with waistcoat), and a purple tie. At his feet sit some evil looking Punch'N'Judy dolls. To the right a man who looks like Lemmy's evil understudy. Tattoos snake round every orifice of his body, his beard grey and flecked, cut short and evil like a goateed tatooed beat messiah, and his hair long, tailing off like a melting iceberg in girth. In blue denim. To my left, a number one recording artist, a legend. Bill Drummond. with two number ones and a top 3 album, and more controversy than most men can dream of, this mild-mannered, and amiable Scot reminds me more of a Highlands Building Surveyor than a soup-cooking art terrorist. To my right, a minor league rock metal legend, Mark Manning. The mighty, nay, the unique Zodiac Mindwarp. Reading from their most recent joint venture, Wild Highway. The first book saw them travelling to the North Pole with a statue of Elvis, looking for the lost chord that gave birth to rock n roll. This one sees them heading up the river of Zaire, re-enacting Conrad's Heart Of Darkness, and looking for the tree of knowledge, the tree that Eve plucked an apple from, so that they can meet the serpent, El Diablo himself. In popular folklore, the only character that ever beat the Devil was Punch, of Punch N Judy. So, armed with Punch and Judy dolls, they travel upriver. But why the Devil? Years ago, Bill and Zod bumped into Van Morrison in a Dublin Hotel. The only thing they learnt from him was that they had sold their souls to the devil. They were going to the Devil to get their souls back. In their next book, they are travelling to the murder capitals of the world - Buneos Aries, Venezula, Montegnegro, Fuerteventura - in search of the Grim Reaper himself."
Hate to be a me too type of guy but I second all that was just said regarding the book signing. It was my first time seeing either author so I was a bit surprised at just how smartly dressed Bill was and how passionate he was in his readings. Great to hear the little pieces of background along with the readings, it will go a long way to fleshing out the story as I read it. I certainly hope they make it through the third book without the foregone conclusion of one of them dying. It would make for great literature but would be a shame. Nice to put a face with Gimpo as I don't recall seeing any pictures or such in the past. Sorry to be so anti-social and not introduce myself to any other list members at the reading but I'm really not good socially. I was the blonde guy in the aeon flux t-shirt for anyone keeping score. Very pleased to get my copy of 1987 signed. Absolutely gobsmacked is probably more accurate. Oh and the t-shirt for sale were undeniably cool. Anyone catch how many they made? I was told that they just printed up a few at the last minute to bring along, looked like around 25 or so. Cheers, Lysergic

They were selling t-shirts? Those were the grey ones with the devil motif weren't they? Liked them a lot. M
