Thankx for the responses, it seems that I am having that problem with a few people. It might be on my side; then again, it might be on your side as well. I do not know. I am looking into this problem, so be patient with me as it might take a few days to research this problem. Has anyone considered hosting an archive somewhere, instead? DreamHost has cheap accounts with a decent amount of storage (perhaps not enough) and a ton of transfer every month. I pay less than $20, and I have over 200GB of transfer a month, and it's very fast. My only complaint with them is their disk space sizes are a little low for me, but they might be enough for an archive of the most relevant material. juli. * RMStringer <rmstringer1971@comcast.net> [ Date: 2005-09-29 ] [ w.r.t. How about using BitTorrent? Either upload the torrents to a public tracker or somebody could set up a K-Tracker for the list only, with a community like this, I expect there would be enthusiastic seeders.. -j -- ... DEFAME, v.t. To lie about another. To tell the truth about another.
Determine annual running costs, work out a rough 'per user' amount (e.g. 200 quid divided by 20 users = a tenner each), set up a paypal account and people who want to use the service pay a 'donation'. Once the donation is received, that user gets their own personal account on the service. 15GB is probably a bit too much, but I'm sure it can be thinned down somewhat. From what I've seen of the FTP server there are plenty of duplicates, etc. -----Original Message----- From: klf-bounces+chris=k23productions.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:klf-bounces+chris=k23productions.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of RMStringer Sent: 30 September 2005 01:42 To: 'All bound for Mu-Mu Land.' Another thing that might be interesting for the list is to set up a bittorent tracker, this can be used to distribute large files such as dvd or flac. It will be easier than the traditionnal p&p. I think some us (including me) have various stuff video or audio to upload. And maybe it is time for us to move on to flac audio and abandon mp3. I don't know how to set up this thing, i think you need a dedicated server or something. If this is set up one day, i can definitly up things i have. seb Chris Peel wrote:
