President Bush's approval ratings have now slipped to their lowest point since election. Average Americans are asking, "Why Iraq? Why now?" The US economy, once the envy of the world, has stalled and is in a tail-spin. Unemployment is on the rise and cities are facing staggering budget crises. What is Bush's reply to this turn of events? Bomb Iraq. Oh, and tax cuts for the rich too. Economically, this war will hobble us. It's good to see the world is skeptical of Bush and his motives though. I support France and Germany's principled opposition to this war. Along with the large anti-war protests around the globe, France and Germany have slowed the US war machine. But now that Turkey has accepted the $14 billion dollar bribe to allow US troops on Turkish soil, the stage is set. I encourage people to keep speaking out against war. i agree, i went to the US at the end of last month, nobody actually WANTS war and a lot of people think it is being done to distract people away from problems at home and resolve his dad's problem/ unfinished business, already my plan has been far outspent by Bush... instead of spending the money on war donate say 2Billion (makes me think of austin powers.. cagillion catrillion dollars) to Iraq to help with their finances and economic problems, (hey america already has atomic weapons) and Iraq are unlikely to attack you as you give them hand outs and you will get some sort of deal on the oil price too. looks like that bribe could have carried this out 7 times over. Well... yes and no. I think that anti-war rhetoric is actually rather appropriate when it comes to a band who wrote a song for world peace (Que Sera Sera indeed!), another on the title of this thread and contributed to the War Child 'Help' album. However, the 'America bashing' needs to be a bit more focused. After all we have America WTIL, the Chill Out and White Room OST dreams of the US highways and Jimi Hendrix sampled all over! I think most of us are perhaps anti US government policy, but I doubt anyone on this list is anti US (counter) culture, which informed so much of what Bill and Jimi did.
