Hi list, I've put some early Cauty/stp stuff on ebay together with a copy of Space, JAMSLP4 and PT5. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4057695571 The discog doesn't mention a release date for the goldfinger mixes nor a release year. My copy contained a sticker with the releasedate on it saying 11-11-1989. Maybe something to update. From the PT5 on eBay...
"5 releases of the pure trance series were planned. One a week. Only PT1 (004T/R), PT2 (005T/R) and PT5 (008R) saw the light of day. The other 2 were never released due to the ambient thing. Their sleeves and labels were pressed upfront to save money. Ambient was the bomb at that time. Jimmy admitted in an interview that Turn Up The Strobe and Love Trance never were recorded. Now and then PT3 aka Love Trance shows up but it's reported to be a counterfeit. This due to several issues. Check the KLF mailinglist archive for discussions on PT3." Factually incorrect, but fascinating none the less. However, as you're claiming this is a forgery, can you enlighten the list as to where the Monster Attack Mix (featured on the B-side) came from and what 'Love Trance' actually is called (and who wrote it)? -----Original Message----- From: klf-bounces+chris=k23productions.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:klf-bounces+chris=k23productions.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Maarten Bouwes Sent: 05 December 2004 13:59 To: klf@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [KLF] Cauty/STP23 +discog update Hi list, I've put some early Cauty/stp stuff on ebay together with a copy of Space, JAMSLP4 and PT5. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4057695571 The discog doesn't mention a release date for the goldfinger mixes nor a release year. I always thought there was also a 1-sided white label of WTIL Monster Attack mix, i think it is mentioned in Pete Robinson's book but could well be wrong. I didn't think it was ever a given that the b-side of Love Trance was/was to be WTIL MA anyway...i'm sure I have also seen stuff, perhaps conjecture, mentioning LT being 1-sided or even featuring 2 versions. In fact i thought a copy of LT in circulation actually has 2 mixes but i could be tripping there As someone else on the list said, it's easy to glue things, and IMHO it's still hard to get any kind of KLF vibe off the piece of music calling itself LoveTrance which is circulating. It kinda reminds me of all the Daft Punk fakes that circulated prior to the release of 'Discovery'. Many were laughable, but strangely, only once u heard the REAL tracks...otherwise doubts creep in =) Then again, perhaps LT is genuine, and remained relatively unreleased not because it was too good, but because it was too crap... Factually incorrect? Is that because you've paid a hughe amount of money for just a record or is it because there actually have been 5 releases in your opinion (including pt3)? Check www.brandnew.co.uk, klf, interview video clips and d/l the 3rd interview and listen closely. I have never seen labels floating around from WTIL pure trance or 3 am. As one said before "I wouldn't touch that if i were you". The only ones to confirm the existance of the record are B&J. I think that's going to be a waste of time and effort asking them since they'll laugh at you for asking about the KLF past.. It's time to sit back and relax and await all relevant arguments. Maarten

"Is that because you've paid a hughe amount of money for just a record or is it because there actually have been 5 releases in your opinion (including pt3)?" Er... Neither. I did bid for Miles' PT3 when it came up on eBay last year but I was beaten to it by another bidder. Also, I'm sure there's almost universal agreement that 'Turn Up The Strobe' was never completed so in my opinion there were PT1, PT2, PT3 and PT5 - three releases and one unreleased recording. As for Jimmy's comments - given that Bill refuses to discuss The KLF, and Jimmy tends to look scared, bored and angry whenever a fan bounds up to him and bombards him with KLF related questions - can you really put what he said down as fact, or maybe it was something a bit sarcastic?
and how much were they making up at the time? I showed bello footage from brand new.co.uk and he couldn't remember being in holland and thought the footage of him was from the filming of the single in a studio but wasn't sure! Even if this did happen, how much else could you say about a single to get it played, how much would be checked up on. (if the tv appearance had been faked, it could be used to substantiate how big the tune was in europe and who would question it, my point being, could this idea be used in other areas). Also a great story about an arab who wanted KLF live, they said no and he increased his offer to £250,000..., bello's manager phoned back later to say that they had turned it down out of principle! (OT)Sewing the seeds of love by tears for fears has the all seeing eye and pyramid near the begining of the video.
