Lost my cable mail address, so resubscribed with this gmail address. Just curious whether anything is happening on this list still? Just one question: Was the 'original' Chill Out ever released, I mean, the version with all contributions from Alex P. included? I thought it would be released as a B-side of the Orb?
There's unconfirmed (?) references to Alex contributing uncredited material to "Chill Out", although he's not mentioned on the sleeve. I think what you mean is the original "Space", which was an album recorded by Alex and Jimmy and intended to be the first album by the Orb. And no, this album has NOT been released - although there's a track called "Pluto" on the Orbsessions Volume 1 album , which is probably from the sessions, and there was talk of the whole thing coming out as "Orbsessions III", I seem to recall - but this never materialised. Also, there was an Orb Podcast released a few years ago which featured excerpts from "Space" and "Chill Out" which could well have been versions with more input from Alex. For the record, Cauty has stated that "Space" (as released) was recorded by him on his own in one working week. What happened to the earlier recordings is not know ... Welcome back, btw! OK, so I'll try to keep it as short as possible, me being OT again. Been away for a while, finished my university studies, but most of all, finished Hell On Steele Wheelz' latest Christmas album. Although it was ready in time, the usual troubles came in (label/cover printing delayed etc.), and the download wasn't up until March either. Then came the idea: if it's already late, why not add some bonus tracks and do a double CD? So here it is, available as you request: a download, a single CD or a special double CD version, which is limited to 50 copies (and i'd like to apologize to Mr. Stringer as I still have to send him an other CD!). I advise you to first hear the download, then if you like it, I can send the version you like.
