For those that couldn't be there: Place was packed. Bill stood up on a table and read out a story detailing him leaving his house, going down the A41, parking, climbing down the side of a hill and painting the words "Is God A Cunt" on a large piece of visible concrete by the side of the M25 Motorway/Freeway. This, along with 2 phone numbers, one to vote yes the other for no. (Inspiration was partly due to all that bollox Pop idol phone in and vote stuff). He then explained how he went back the next day only to find that the words God and Cunt had been pained over. Now perhaps someone else who was there could fill in some more (I'm not entirely sure if he was going to paint the same message on those 15 bike signs, or whether he was just going to photograph them)......... **************************************************************************** LOGICSCOPE REALISATIONS LTD, 64 Great Eastern St, London EC2A 3QR The information contained in this document is intended only for the addressee. It may contain confidential and/or legally privileged material. You may not review, retransmit, disseminate, publish or otherwise use or rely on the information in this document unless you are its intended recipient. If you have received this document in error, Please contact the sender and delete all copies of this material.

There are 25 bicycle lane signs on the road he chose (possibly the A41?), he wrote "Is god a cunt?" in felt tip on 24, then on the last, the 2 phone numbers for yes/no. He made a 'piece of art' by photographing all 25, and putting the photos in a 5 x 5 grid in a frame. He was planning to see how they deteriorated with age and take another set of photos, but was pulled over by the police for stopping here he shouldn't while led to an interesting anecdote or two. The 2 telephone numbers allow you to record your votes/thoughts on the topic on answering machines that are in Bill's garage, which he checks most mornings. There is also a large book with gold embossing on the cover that you can add your thoughts to. Finally, he put a large (6ft square-ish) painting of the words "is god a cunt?" on the wall at the Foundry, together with a notice explaining that the painting would only be complete when all people who wished to respond by adding to it had done so. As I left, people were already writing on the painting. I believe it will stay at the Foundry until Sunday, but there notice explains that people who want to add to it can request it to be hung in a suitable location. - Andy_R
So what are the phone numbers? Can we still vote? :) Chris

I'll take them down and pass them on if I get back to the foundry before the posters come down, but Bill did mention that you can send your thoughts on the subject to isgodacunt@penkiln-burn.com and he'll put them into the big book with the gold embossing. - Andy_R
If you or anyone else has got a picture - could you please send it to me ? but there were no takers... How about this then? http://www.artguide.org/uk/AG.pl?Action=ExhibsByName TALK BY BILL DRUMMOND: HOW TO BE AN ARTIST, starts 12-Sep-2002 until 13-Sep-2002 http://www.artguide.org/uk/AG.pl?Action=4085971E&Axis=1028746207F TALK BY BILL DRUMMOND: HOW TO BE AN ARTIST Arnolfini Gallery, Bristol starts 12-Sep-2002 until 13-Sep-2002 General information Inspired by his favourite artist Richard Long, Bill Drummond sets out on a quest to sell a photographic print by Long entitled 'A Smell of Sulphur in the Wind' for $20,000. How To Be An Artist (Penkiln Burn £15.00) documents his drive north from Southampton to Dounreay, via Bristol, during which he reflects on the work of art. Returning to Bristol to exhibit photographs and material gathered from his journey, Bill will discuss his and our relationship to art, as he cuts up Long's work into 20,000 equal pieces, and offers them for sale for one US dollar each. Bill Drummond has used various strategies to interrogate and subvert the cultural landscape, including pop music (KLF), writing (The Manual, Bad Wisdom and 45) and actions (the burning of a considerable amount of money). Talks £3.00 / £2.00 concessions. Advance booking recommended
http://www.24hourmuseum.org.uk/exh/ART13395.html "Twenty-three artists have been brought together to present their work. Some are well established such as Stephen Willats, others up and coming, but all share one common denominator; a love of rock music. The exhibits, all produced within the last two years, are presented through a wide variety of media including photography, video, painting, drawing and neon work. Infamous ex-KLF member Bill Drummond is among the supporters of the exhibition, along with photographer Kevin Cummins, renowned for shooting pictures of bands such as the Smiths and Joy Division."
