Re: [KLF] Truckstop JAMs mp3
I think the idea of one CD released at 20 years and one at 23 years (which be the year 2010, two decades since the KLF's chart ascendance) is great. A three years gap may seem quite long, but we're all busy people with things to do - this is probably going to be a difficult enough project to get one CD out. And of course, I've always been a fan of the "single hits" CD. The long mixes and rarities thing we can leave for another day - at the moment I think it's essential we give the ordinary punter what he/she (generally "he", let's be honest) wants from the KLF. And that's going to (1) a few novelty songs to laugh at, (2) old-skool rave to get nostalgic at OR an introduction to one of the seminal bands of old-school rave from before I was born, (3) a few genuine WTF moments, (4) a few bits of mythology building, and (5) that one with Tammy Wynette. Oh, and as far as the omission of "Build a Fire" is concerned - well, I'm sure I'm not the only one here who would be sad to not see it on there ... but, being honest, a lot of people I've spoken too don't like side 2 of JAMSLP6 at all, with its "slow songs" etc. I feel it might alienate the very casual listener. "Build a Fire", though, could possibly be the track we all choose to download from Itunes to make it number one! Paul's tracklist covers the five positive points I list above very, very well. I would only make two suggestions: (1) KLF Vs. Extreme Noise Terror "3 AM" single. An official KLF release, arguably their only "fan club" release, and one guaranteed to make people smile. Of course, it means the CD would have 3 versions of 3AM, but it also has four mixes of WTIL? on it - and since 3AM was the KLF's only "legitimate" number one (at least in the UK) I think it deserves to be represented well. Plus, of course, the ENT version was the KLF's magnificent swansong. And (2) Go To Sleep. First of all, because I love it. But also because there's only one version of "Last Train" on there. Another would be great - but they're all too long. Here was have basically the first radio edit, and a rare unreleased track as well. Every greatest hits nowadays has one or two "unreleased" tracks on it. GTS and ME(Club Edit) could be ours! And I'm sure even with the edition of GTS and KLFENT3AM, the CD would still be under 80 minutes (if only by a few seconds). Oh - and I don't know much about wikis. Can someone teach me?

paul i like the idea of your edits and i agree the evil edit needs some cleaning up (this is why i made the WAV available) but i am getting a user bandwidth exceeded msg for your mp3...will this time out or otherwise could you up it again, or try rapidshare or megaupload? (i know they can be just as troublesome though!)
cheers ears

Because there is some support for this tracklist I've converted my cd to mp3 for people to download and give a listen to. Purists be warned - some tracks have been tampered with.
All You Need is Love Original Whitney Joins the Jams (custom 7" edit) Downtown 7" Burn the Beat (7 inch, from OZ History CD) Disaster Fund Collection (from same CD) Doctorin the TARDIS 7" What Time is Love Power 7" (the Evil would be better methinks) 3am Eternal Pure Trance edit Kylie Said to Jason 7" Madrugada Eterna club edit What Time is Love Live at Trancentral radio 3am Eternal SSL 7" Last Train... Lost Continent 7" IGUN radio Justified and Ancient : Stand by the Jams 7" America What Time is Love 7" K Cera Cera The Magnificent ***K the Millennium 7" (custom mix)
Whitney is a custom 7" edit I did, Burn the Beat is a unique mix to the OZ History CD, MadRu is a club edit of the full version I did because the normal club edit I had didn't sound great. Only difference is a few sounds in the last 30s, otherwise it's pretty exact. WTIL:Trancentral - I added the extended ending of NASA speak from the US 12" for my taste. ***K - mixed in an extra bit I loved from the different project remixes. Otherwise all tracks are from CD, the one or two that aren't have been carefully declicked.
I suppose we want to swap WTIL:Power with Evil Edit so I've included it here. I think it needs a little bit of dehissing, IMO.
When it comes to final distribution I suggest going with torrent of flac files on a public site. Then anyone who wants to grab it can, and instructions and artwork can be included for others to get in on the act.
