Interesting... http://rocknerd.org/article.pl?sid=03/06/18/0539252&mode=thread&tid=21 Jon Doe I enjoyed reading that. It seems that most of the KLF stuff we read is always from Bill, and after reading 45 and countless other interviews, it's refreshing to hear JC's opinions. BTW - what exactly was their contribution to The KLF? I know jimmy did a lot of the keyboards, programming and writing, but exactly WHAT did Bill do on the trax? (apart from shout?) Andrew
well, from what i can gather on bits of film, he kind of guided the project. "More like this, less like that etc." That might seem like a small job but i am in the same position tmrw with this guy i work with quite often and he does the thinking leaving me free to concentrate on actually DOING the track. This actually works quite well, but what does this other guy do? he doesnt write tracks, program synths, mix down and he is even going deaf, but without his contribution standards could slip or go in a different direction, which direction is right is a different matter. (our current disagreement is shouting in tracks, I dont like it, but there is an advert for a compilation Extreme Euphoria on telly right now and its probably the "come on- this is what you all have been waiting for" vocal that made our track the one used). ? Artistic director? =) Of course, with Bill's previous sojurns as A&R man, manager, etc. and with Jimmy coming through from a musical route - it seems the ideal combination. Jimmy (de)constructs the tracks, Bill handles the logistical side of things (remember - they had their own label). Bill would have probably proved a good person to bounce ideas off (i.e. "that's crap", "so's that", etc., etc.). Having read "The Manual" several times, it seems to me that Bill wrote most/all of it.
