Since digest readers are probably in the minority and are already resigned to sifting through messages anyway, it's unlikely that a consensus could be reached to void HTML on this list.
Wrong. The majority of posters use plain text (review the archives!). Also, subscribing to the non-digest version does not remove HTML from mails. This is the list web page: http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/klf Go there now and click on "posting guidelines" and you'll find the posting guidelines for this list. Here's an excerpt: * Avoid long signatures. * Trim down quoted text. * Move the quoted text above your reply. * Stay on-topic. * Avoid HTML, rich text, attachments and other non-text content. In other words, do what most people on the list do already and have done since 1992. To quote another poster: "A few lines of text in the RM Stringer original was 26K, after a couple of Stuart Bruce and RMStringer replies this had gone up to 40K". It's up to all of us to decide whether that's 40K of crap or 40K of content. If you feel that your non-text content like <div>, etc adds something crucial to your postings, please explain why that is the case. Otherwise, follow the posting guidelines and please stop sending 33 kilobyte mails with only 300 bytes of content.
and now for something completely different.... i'm seeing some real oddness in the order of msgs arriving. i'm seeing replies before the originals. i'm sure its happened before - i'm just too lazy to have paid much attention to it - with all this noise at the moment its become very noticable. is everyone else getting the same thing? cheers brendan
