To reintroduce myself: Martijn
Hi fellow KLF freaks... I've joined this list already 4 years ago, I guess, and I haven't really bothered mailing a lot, which I intend to change from now on. So, I'm a genuine lurker, I could say. I live in The Netherlands, Deventer, 26 years old, and I think I've got most of the mp3s/jpgs/mpgs available of the KLF. Back in the day when the Fnord archive was still up, I was able to almost completely download it, except for about 300 MB of data. Now I'm filling up the pieces, so that's not really interesting anymore. Last year a friend of mine working at a second-hand record store collected my very first original vinyl singles for me (nothing special, just the comercially well-known released ones), so I'm more and more a real collector, I guess. (Bought the singles for HFL 2.50 = EUR 1.15 = oh well... a piece). Ofcourse I have read the Illuminatus Trilogy. Which was quite a bore, actually, since a conspiracy theory like that already exists for years longer than the book, known as the Egyptian/Gnostic religion being suppressed by the Christian religion. Ofcourse THAT really explains the pyramids etc. Wait! I'm drifting off... Oh well, have fun posting what you want to post, hope I bored no one with my little piece of nonsense...
maybe we could talk about looking at each other's digital collection? I am mostly looking for interview clips, omnibus documentary..that kind of thing.. --- Martijn Melenhorst <rheenen@home.nl> wrote:

does the Gnostic religion also believe in the power of 5?? because there hasn't been a single person so far i've made read that book that hasn't instantly started seeing the numerology coincidences. and then within months it gets a bit more intense. more me, that was the cool thing about the book. it's more of a virus than literature :) :) ..jai... to whom the words off-topic just mean a chocolate bar past its sell by date (probably a comment that'll only work with UK people) -- --- "I had to spend a little time recently with a parot, it's true. i won't tell you why, but what amazes me is why anybody would want to spend anytime at all sitting at home teaching a bird to talk. I mean, what's wrong with the rest of the family, huh? and of course they have to teach it something really interesting like "who's a pretty boy?" No, not as far as I know. To say Illuminatus! was nothing new, or is just a re-hash of another theory is missing the point entirely; the whole book was a mish-mash of other ideas, religions, conspiracy theories, historical facts, urban myths, tall tales and jokes, some recalled more accurately than others, some deliberately misinterpreted or obscured. Kinda like your friends and mine, the KLF. Sampled music, borrowed monikers, dubious stories, obscure references and jokes.

:) I think it was Omar Khayyam Ravenhurst who exclaimed "The more I look for the Law of Fives the truer it becomes!" (or something like that)
and then within months it gets a bit more intense. more me, that was the cool thing about the book. it's more of a virus than literature :) :)
it's a pretty powerful meme, that's for sure

off-topic? If you can't talk about Illuminatus! on the JAMs list then, er, I guess you shouldn't.
