i often think that when there is musical discussion on here. for some reason we think the music business is rich and we can just steal the music.

possibly its cos with the klf, nobody really minds the sharing/stealing. but once it concerns stuff you can walk into a store and buy, then it bugs quite a few of us. also, talking about blatant piracy onlist is really bad for the list's health. while we're here, and to bring it back on topic..... (please forget that we've got different laws all over the planet and concentrate on the UK ones, which IMHO would be the ones used in any copyright infringement legal fight.) my understanding is that there's no solid legal ground to base the theory of "we hope the klf don't mind our trading" on. based of my reading and crap memory, the list collectively mostly agrees on most of the following * the KLF deleted their back catalogue so we cant buy it * the stuff is mostly over 10years old * its mostly only for sale second hand so the band don't miss out on money * everyone does buy the stuff that is available * we hope they're nice guys and wont sue us * everyone else is doing it and they didn't get sued, so therefore we can do it does anyone (preferably with a UK law degree) know better? are there precedents for this kind of thing? has anyone got it in writing from bill and jim that they wont sic lawyers on ppl one day? is there a time after which they can no longer object?
