RE: [KLF] Spot the sample (episode 12B)
And it goes ... "diddlediddlediddle-deedee, diddlediddlediddle-deedee ... " Are you referring to the stirring string section. I recall reading on here(possibly) that it was taken from a classic western film theme, posssibly 'The Big Country'. this would link nicely with the magnificent track using yet another western theme, the Magnificent Seven. _______________________________________________ KLF mailing list KLF@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/klf _________________________________________ This INBOUND message to Frontline Limited has been checked for all known viruses by the MessageLabs Virus Scanning Service. ------------------------------------------------------------ This e-mail message and any attachment(s) are CONFIDENTIAL and may contain legally privileged information. It's not from Big Country. That was sampled directly by 808state on MC Tunes "the only rhyme that bites". I have the theme on a soundtrack CD. I think it's an original composition. It always reminded me of the music to a showjumping TV show that used to be on the BBC years ago. Can't quite remember how it goes though. Andy
i'd always thought it was just a bit of keyboard work they did themselves - but it's not the same sample on Goto Sleep is it? it's different - making me think that it's taken from another part of a song. maybe it's from E Train....
Go To Sleep has the same chords as all other LTTT incarnations, but the strings are not as emphasized as they are in the lost continent version for example - yet they are already in Go To Sleep. Listen to the right channel around 2:30. Hard to tell if the sample is the same, though... I think it is, just more quiet.

Not to mention that the 808State / Big Country part has other tones. It's just the same kind of passage, but they are too different from LTTT to be sampled.

Something like "diddlediddlediddle-deedee, diddlediddlediddle-deedee..." I suppose. :-) --- Thomas Touzimsky "Some millennia, you should better stay in bed."
