After reading the about the KLF cover versions i have pulled from the bag labelled charity shop a 12" by KYJ called IT'S GREAT DOWN SOUTH. An answer to THE JAMMS, listing everyting thats great about the south. Also a track called They Play Down South listing all the London area football teams. How bad is that?

I respect your opinion, but aeons ago I typed in a lenghty diatribe against Scooter, if needed, I can send it again...:)
My thoughts in short: KLF had a mind and a soul, while Scooter is humourless, all their 30 albums are built upon the same stuff...once they namecheck Public Enemy (We Bring The Noise), next they are KLF-fans...I just don't get it. Dull, humourless, brainless music, a shame. Perfect for a drunken night out, and for "rave nostalgia", but otherwise it's pretty boring and VERY annoying. Rave once meant Happy Mondays, EMF, balearic beat, once PWEI sampled everything, now if I mention the phrase "rave music" in Hungary, everybody says "ooh, me too, I like Scooter too"...aarrghhhh
But that's just what I think about them...

I know many of you do not like his stuff because he rips off the KLF, but come on, He has a butt load of albums and Rave people like him. He gives props to the KLF in many of his tracks and some of them are actually very good. I know that he is full of himself, but he did and does what the KLF did. He makes music and samples the hell out of other people's work. I enjoy his stuff as it fun and good driving music. Go Scooter. BTW, his new album is very descent and very KLFish. Behind the Cow (3 Am Mix) is a good track doe the dance floor. He has stepped up where the KLF left off IMO.
This ought to start some chatting on this list.

Hey,
Years ago I joined this list, browsed it for a bit, had a few e-mails exchanged with John Milne and went away. One of the things I promised John was that I would upload a Geordie cover version of 'Its Grim Up North' that I had, but I lost the record. I've since moved house and its turned up again! I don't know much about it really. I bought it from Volume Records in Sunderland in late 1991. Its pretty rubbish to be fair, but the end of it where it turns into Blaydon Races instead of Jerusalem might raise a titter!
Excuse the pops and crackles of the vinyl - since the coal mines shut here we haven't be able to afford decent pressing plants. . .

Enjoy!
Darren.
