Re: The Magnficent (was Re: [KLF] (no subject))
The blonde is actually Jayne Casey, who in 1976 was a teenaged hairdresser in Liverpool. She was spotted by Ken Campbell to join his Science Fiction Theatre, and through their production of "Illuminatus!" met Bill Drummond. Together (with Ian Broudie, Budgie, etc etc) they formed Big in Japan in 1977 - she was their lead singer. She's still very active in the Liverpool arts scene, and there's tons of stuff about her on Google. For more info on the recording of "The Magnificent" (and the entire history of B92) check out the book "This Is Serbia Calling: Rock 'n' Roll Radio and Belgrade's Underground Resistance" by Matthew Collin. I think it's subsequently be re-issued as "Guerilla", but this may be a different book. Collin also wrote "Altered State", which included a couple of paragraphs' description of the KLF's gig at Chipping Norton in October 1989.

There are lies and denials and then there's the KLF It was Jimmy and Bill delivering the DAT to Steve Lamacq shown at the end of the Burn a million quid documentary. Jimmy said "we need to make sure there is no mention of either of our names, for legal reasons because we split up our partnership" then Bill says "for tax reasons" then the blonde says "dont be pulled into their lies, you just tell everyone its by the KLF"

nice info. one thing that confused me a little though is why bill denied any involvement/responsibility for the track when i'm sure there was a tv special about the making of the album whiich showed B&J delivering it to the DJ Steve Lamacq and watching his reactions as he played it...perhaps it was only Jimmy though?
I personally don't recall any interviews where Bill denied involvement. From what I recall during the week it was being recorded we knew B&J were involved and by the time it came out we knew which track it was. I recall buying it the first day it was available in the US as an import.
The only denial I am aware of by Bill was in the Omnibus doc where a fan asked if they were going to be making any new music. Bill said no, walked into the hotel room and asked Jimmy to pull out the DAT for their new track (ie: The Magnficent)

Thanks for that, i thought she was some sort of manager/promoter by the way she acted with Bill and Jimmy. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Milne" <john@highlandland.fsnet.co.uk> To: "All bound for Mu-Mu Land." <klf@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Saturday, February 03, 2007 9:24 AM Subject: Re: The Magnficent (was Re: [KLF] (no subject))
