IGUN and the FALL of the JAMs
Also, I forgot this: The Fall covered "Jersualem" in 1988. Does anyone know anything about the time BD was claiming another psuedonym for the KLF was the Forever Ancients Liberation Loophole. Obviously something to do with the loophole in the Contract from the White Room movie - and its a psuedonym that's mentioned on some KLF t-shirts. But, what was the link between the F. A. L. L. and the Fall. Did Bill and Jimmy just like them? John

It also reflects the Fall's video for "Hit the North" (which had a part 1 and a part 2, as well, and features Mark E Smith and compadres dancing around a giant map of landmarks from the North of England).

The video for IGUN is great as well. It fits the mood of the song perfectly along with Bill's vocal delivery.

According to the sleeve notes for "1987 - The Edits", the only sample on 1987 that the actually had permission to use was from something by the Fall (Petula Clark later gave them permission to use 'Downtown' too, but that's a different story). - Andy_R

actually another thing I forgot...
there was this Public NME Gossip section mention on 13th Feb 1988: ---------- All of you who enjoy the sort of corny link that might involve spreading THE JAMMS on your toast micght be interested to know that KING BOY D, or 'BAD BOY D' and THE GUARDIAN called him last week, actually changed the name of his band recently from THE JUSTIFIED ANCIENTS OF MUMU to THE FALL to promote the release of The Jamms second LP 'Who Kill The Jamms?'. Mr Boy D was inspired to make the move after being the victim of FIERCE RECORDS last scam, However the dapper rapper surprisingly changed his mind days before the record's release and merely retitled one of the tracks 'The Prestwich Prophet's Grin' as a tribute to MARK SMITH. ---------- so, the name thing was because Fierce put out a record as The Jams, B+J were going to put out a record as The Fall, but decided not to! cheers -- Stuart Young, Michelle Ardern & Felix Ardern-Young (3) Live at: 42B, Sefton Ave, Grey Lynn, Auckland, NZ Phone: +64 (0)9 376 8100 say.map@ihug.co.nz Graphic and Web design, Web development and hosting: http://www.pixelandgrain.co.nz/ Stuey's personal website - a cobweb site: http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~stuey/ Any views expressed in this email are those of the author and not of any of the organisations we are involved with. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. pass? I think its just a multiple identies thing. Like anyone can use the Micheal K or X$X or Monty Cantsin or Luther Blissett names, the Jams were proposing that now we're The Fall? lyrics to THE PRESTWICH PROPHET'S GRIN [JAMS LP2]: Now we ain't the Jams, it was a passing phase Like love and spots and fame Flares stroll in and hip-hop's out In the merry-go-bollocks game Well Mark E Smith, it's your turn now To roll the dice and win The ???? changed, now we're The Fall! The North has risen again! cheers -- Stuart Young, Michelle Ardern & Felix Ardern-Young (3) Live at: 42B, Sefton Ave, Grey Lynn, Auckland, NZ Phone: +64 (0)9 376 8100 say.map@ihug.co.nz Graphic and Web design, Web development and hosting: http://www.pixelandgrain.co.nz/ Stuey's personal website - a cobweb site: http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~stuey/ Any views expressed in this email are those of the author and not of any of the organisations we are involved with. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. holly sh'molly here's another - untitled News story from page 3 of the NME, (16 January, 1988) The JUSTIFIED ANCIENTS OF MU MU release their new record '20 Greatest Hits' this week - only Rockman Rock and King Boy D claim it isn't them. The duo say they have not been involved in the making of the record but welcome the emergence of any number of people recording as The Jamms for various KLF labels. "We look forward to this sort of behaviour reaching its logical conclusion, the Top 20 packed with aspiring record makers using whoever else's name they fancied," they say. "We would hopefully arrive at a position where all reputations were destroyed and careers left in tatters. We are currently considering becoming The Fall/Pet Shop Boys/Sugarcubes." ----------- these 2 snippets are brand new never before typed into electronic format special treats for you from my box of paper originals. the library of mu has been updated... http://www.libraryofmu.org/display-resource.php?id=59 http://www.libraryofmu.org/display-resource.php?id=64 cheers -- Stuart Young, Michelle Ardern & Felix Ardern-Young (3) Live at: 42B, Sefton Ave, Grey Lynn, Auckland, NZ Phone: +64 (0)9 376 8100 say.map@ihug.co.nz Graphic and Web design, Web development and hosting: http://www.pixelandgrain.co.nz/ Stuey's personal website - a cobweb site: http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~stuey/ Any views expressed in this email are those of the author and not of any of the organisations we are involved with. -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
