So, correct me if i am wrong. Due to the fact that 2 were missing, the lot was to be brought back to the pressingplant and had to be utterly destroyed? What happened then with the master? And "squeeze" means sexproject I assume? ;)

Yes Maarten has hit the nail on the head.
Here's the story for everyone else...
Me at work on my own at Appearing. Delivery turns up (about 150 12"s) As usual I have to open them up and check what's inside Oooo grey Jamms 12" Slap one on the turntable. Mmmm nice. One for me one for my flatmate. Sally (Fellowes, Bill's current squeeze and KLF label manager) turns up. Looks at delivery, inspects 12" and goes apeshit (Sally was well known for her temper!!!) Rings pressing plant and continues to go apeshit. Delivery man turns up pronto and carts them all off.
I stay quiet.
That's why mine only has IT'S GRIM UP NORTH on it and yours don't.
Fin
PS Is this a peak?
Wasn't that the story about those 2 "missing" records at appearing?

that can't be true as there are several copies floating around with only "it's grim up north" in the run-out groove. also, it seems doubtful that sallie got pissed off just because the catalogue number was missing in the run-out groove. if she *was* upset, why did they let some amateur (bill? jimmy? obviously not a pressing plant employee) scratch the catalogue number into the pressing plate? every person normally working at a pressing plant would know that everything has to be scratched in backwards (including the "J").
What happened then with the master?
the same master was used for the later pressings, only JAMS28T (or rather LAMS28T) was scratched onto the pressing plate before the second run. compare the "IT'S GRIM UP NORTH" message on both, doesn't it look exactly the same? cheers Robert

Sally got a major strop about the SLIGHTEST thing. Believe me her temper was well known. Imperfection was not an option.
That's Sally who Bill was shagging while still married to Mrs Drummond. You can see her vaguely on the Omnibus thing. They used to meet up for lunch when I worked at Rough Trade with Sally. They both came back one day very giggly and Bill gave me a Shag Shag Shag T-shirt ( I was covering the front desk ) to wear. Still got it but it's not shaped like a T anymore. Sally left Rough Trade and went on to work 50/50 for KLF and Appearing. When things got big she left to go full time KLF label manager. As Bill said in a Catalogue interview once "Q: What do you look for in a woman A: The hole." (Catalogue being Rough Trade / Cartel magazine written by Richard Boon) Andy
And "squeeze" means sexproject I assume? ;)
