Just because we saw the withdrawal on the statement doesn't mean they burnt it. ----- Original Message ---- From: Andrew Shinn <andrewshinn@tiscali.co.uk> To: All bound for Mu-Mu Land. <klf@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, 16 July, 2008 8:40:27 PM Subject: Re: [KLF] KLF burn £1,000000 retired quid I've heard this before but I'm sure on the "Burn A Million Quid" film or on the Omnibus Documentary for the BBC there is a close up camera shot of the bank statement showing the £1,000,000 withdrawal

Highly unlikely. The Bank of England has its own facilities for disposing of expired bank notes, they're hardly likely to give to The KLF to dispose of. The Great Train Robbery was a somewhat successful attempt to intercept out of circulation notes on their way to the incinerator. I would imagine the Bank of England would be fairly upset about the fairly slapdash execution, given that some notes only partially burned were found down the coast.

-----Original Message-----
From: Don Gagen [mailto:DGagen@EnsembleStudios.com]
Sent: Wednesday, July 16, 2008 12:59 PM
To: 'All bound for Mu-Mu Land.'
Subject: [KLF] KLF burn £1,000000 retired quid

I can't believe no one has commented on this. Is it old news or just fake? In case you were wondering I lurk quite a bit now. ...KLF also famously set fire to £1,000000 which according to James Drummond, Bill's son and fellow THFC supporter, was real money but actually money that was out of circulation. KLF got it for a very small transfer fee from the Bank of England just to destroy...So now you know!" http://www.killyourpetpuppy.co.uk/post86/?p=17 "A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away."
