Happy May 23rd everyone. ;-)
Just curious... since DTT has been released today (and 15 years ago), did a= nyone of you buy it directly in stores that time ? Or all we all just late = developers that collected that release long after ?
my first experience with the song was through a cassette tape given to me by a friend who said "you've got to hear this, you'll love it!" - this must have been late '89 - and I'm not really sure where she got it I found myself the TVT 12" and 7" later the next year (at the same time in the same store) then in late '90 a couple of friends came back from a road trip, stoked that they had found the 3" CD - I seem to remember it being a little gatefold sleeve? I myself never found it on CD until the TVT re-release (with the WTIL mix)
The problem now is anything associated with Mr. Paul Gadd is a bit dodgy, so you have mixed feelings about playing it ("Do ya, do ya, do, ya, do ya touch me" - indeed!).
not in the US at the beginning of his legal predicaments, it may have been true, but that lasted about 3 1/2 days "rock & roll" (part 2) is one of the most common (if not #1) amerikan sporting event jock songs, and they aren't going to give it up seriously, if it had been written by osamabinladen amerikans would STILL "jock out" to it if it's a choice between making a true moral stand or ignoring the situation for fun/greed/profit, by now it should be painfully obvious to the world which is the amerikan way as for any feelings *I* have personally about playing it? well, if the UK system of justice is anything like the US, there's a big possibility that he isn't really guilty of what he was convicted of - I certainly never saw any evidence of photos he may have had, and if there was a jury I'd suspect they never saw any evidence either (since supposedly just viewing any evidence would be in effect illegal) - so I don't understand how it's possible to convict anyone when no evidence can ever be shown that the law was broken anyhow, I don't have mixed feelings about playing it (or any glitter mixes of it) - maybe because he was ALREADY kinda creepy looking to me in the first place
It seems to be all becoming a bit passe now, it seems that every film i watch these days has 23 in at some point. Last week i watched October Sky last week and a token used by a miner in the film was had 23 in it, oh and he died. The repetition has taken some of the magic off the whole thing. Rather than a supposed law about chance and synchronicity the law of fives has become an unbending, definate almost guaranteed rule in the hollywood world.
I do see alot of "23"s, but of course I'm always looking for them it may be true that adding a "23" may be a way to gain some kind of token "underground credibility" but I don't really see it becoming a "hollywood rule" - almost everyone I ask about the "23" phenomenon has no idea what I'm talking about (even people I ask that are familiar with burroughs or "illuminatus" seem to have a weird kind of "23 amnesia") of course, if "23" really is magic, the more it's used the more powerful it will become (if you really believe in that sort of thing) so I really wouldn't worry about the "hollywood rule" but yes, as far as popular media goes you can find a "23" everywhere, all the time my girlfriend's birthday is the 23, BTW
Where in the us?
"BROOKLYN NEW YORK, BROOKLYN NEW YORK...."
Sorry mate Gary was guilty as charged. The whole thing blew off when he took his PC in to be fixed and it was stacked with pictures of "young" ladies. Gary likes 'em young. Fact! Andy PS Another ex-Appearing/Scott Piering client. I've accompanied him to a couple of interviews. Charming fellow.
