I've been thinking about the future value of CDs too. Sometimes I think that the best thing to do is to convert all to audio files and then sell the originals off before they become as worthless and neglected as VHS videos have become (in a very short space of time). As far as PDO disk rot, remember that there was an issue of "Shag Times" JAMSCD3 that appears to have been reissued (no idea whether it's a boot - but if it is it's a fantastically good one!) in Switzerland in 1992 and says "Made in Switzerland" above the barcode. It is *not* PDO. John

Very true! :]
I've put (almost) my entire CD collection onto my PC now (via iTunes) and I'll start working my way through my vinyl eventually (either that or just nab the appropriate tracks off Rob's FTP server) ;) I can see some CDs becoming collectible in the same way that Star Wars figures are now - nobody wants them for what they are; instead they're more likely to be mounted in a frame and put in a display case...

a playable copy of Shag Times will become even more rare since most copies seem to suffer from disc rot. Mine is still perfect, though. Could be just a certain run of copies?
I've sealed all my PDO CDs in plastic and put cdrs in with the sleeves. I've also backed them all up to shn files just in case.
geez, no real reason to keep the cds anymore, is there?

CDs always were worthless - vinyl's still where it's at ;) jon, who writes his emails on punchcards and feeds them to a steam powered calculating engine. It doesn't play Battlefield2 though.
