Hi everyone! I recently decided to join the list. I'm 27 years old and live in Sweden. I have been collecting KLF records since 1991. They are quite unknown here, but people around my age seem to remember them. The only song they play on the radio nowadays is "jusified and ancient". Before I got the internet it was a difficult task to find a KLF record, specially on CD! Coma records did quite a limited pressing it seems... Well that's it for now! Cheers, Mange __________________________________ Yahoo! Mail - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005 http://mail.yahoo.com
Welcome, Mange! Coma Records seem to have produced one of the rarest KLF CDs. It's COMA CD 7011, and includes the rare "Techno Gate" Mix from 1990, and the 1989 "Techno Slam" Mix, which is not available on CD anywhere else. If you have it, consider yourself lucky! I have never seen a copy, and from previous discussions on here, I don't think many other people have, either. Not sure. The "Techno Slam" CD appearance makes it rare, but also that fact that you NEVER see it on Ebay and as far as I'm aware, not many people have it. I got the 12" a long time ago in a record shop in Forfar (a small town north on Dundee) which was very surprising - but the CD never appeared. I've got a plan to make a double cd compilation with all the pure trance tracks avalible on it, plus some kylie tracks that in my oppinion are also "pure trance" Does anybody got a direct to cd transfer of love trance and lovers side (extended). The mp3 that is available doesn't sound that nice!! I've already done a "the singles" compilaton with all tracks from the stadium house period and after, so this would be a nice complement! As far as klf4r is concerned, it doesn't tell wich track that is the techno slam mix. I think both are! "The '89 Primal Remix" is just the name of the 12" mange --- John Milne <john@highlandland.fsnet.co.uk> wrote:

Not sure. The "Techno Slam" CD appearance makes it rare, but also that fact
that you NEVER see it on Ebay and as far as I'm aware, not many people have it. I got the 12" a long time ago in a record shop in Forfar (a small town north on Dundee) which was very surprising - but the CD never appeared.

Cheers, Mange

I had a similar idea, though I am trying to get as many tracks as i can in CD format to put together something that sounds professional. There will be some obvious omissions such as the more 'ambient' of the 004T mixes, the Virtual Reality mix, and not to mention most of 005R - I am wondering whether to make an edit of the Blue Danube Orbital mix from Aubrey mixes II, as it has some orbient extra sample at the start and similar, or a crossfade, at the end Regarding 004R the sleeve is indeed misleading, as "THE '89 PRIMAL REMIX" is in much larger writing on the sticker on the front, but the single track on one side is the "...ORIGINAL CLASSIC TRANCE MIX" with the two remixes on the other side. However that does give us 3 tracks and 3 titles, and the second of the new mixes is definitely the 'slammier' of the two. This is also how they are labelled on 'Ultra Rare Tracks' but I guess that was the opinion of a bootlegger =) Interesting though as I guess the bootleg is more likely to be wrong as they are both similar, and both feature that slam sound....hmmm tbc. The LSOM 1 compiler appeared on the KLF Yahoo Group about 18 month ago, and I had a nice chat with him. He said he sold (most of?) his KLF collection back in the late 1990s and is now "retired" from the KLF. If he still reads this archive, maybe he can tell me otherwise ...

What I have figured there where at least three persons involved in the making of lsom1. Two from Sweden and one from USA (that's the one that got the CD manufactured). I've been in contact with both the Swedes. I believe the one you are talking about is the guy that I got my lsom1 & 2 and twrost of! He was indeed selling a lot of stuff back in 1999 I think. The other guy that I met at the university was also selling part of his collecion mostly the CDs. I think their name was Johan & Henrik mange --- John Milne <john@highlandland.fsnet.co.uk> wrote:
The LSOM 1 compiler appeared on the KLF Yahoo Group about 18 month ago, and I had a nice chat with him. He said he sold (most of?) his KLF collection back in the late 1990s and is now "retired" from the KLF. If he still reads this archive, maybe he can tell me otherwise ... (I wish I could remember his name).

I think we got the exact same idea! I would also put the VR mix on and maybe also lttt (mu d vari-speed) instead of E-train (which I don't beleve any of you own?). I have read a mail posted on this list many years ago (in the arkive) that this record (klf8t) had been sold on energy music (a second hand shop in england, that I don't believe exist anymore).
Also John:
Isn't virtual reality mix on "Lost Sounds of Mu 1"? (Which, by a >strange coincidence, I'm selling on Ebay today).
By an extrodinary strange coincidence, I happend to turn up in the same class at the university in Sweden with a guy that actually own most of the records used on lsom1. He showed me his collection which also included klf 92 promo 3.
He had also been searching for COMA CD7011 without success... That's one reason why I'm convinced that it doesn't exist!

I had a similar idea, though I am trying to get as many tracks as i can in CD format to put together something that sounds professional. There will be some obvious omissions such as the more 'ambient' of the 004T mixes, the Virtual Reality mix, and not to mention most of 005R - I am wondering whether to make an edit of the Blue Danube Orbital mix from Aubrey mixes II, as it has some orbient extra sample at the start and similar, or a crossfade, at the end
Regarding 004R the sleeve is indeed misleading, as "THE '89 PRIMAL REMIX" is in much larger writing on the sticker on the front, but the single track on one side is the "...ORIGINAL CLASSIC TRANCE MIX" with the two remixes on the other side. However that does give us 3 tracks and 3 titles, and the second of the new mixes is definitely the 'slammier' of the two. This is also how they are labelled on 'Ultra Rare Tracks' but I guess that was the opinion of a bootlegger =)
Interesting though as I guess the bootleg is more likely to be wrong as they are both similar, and both feature that slam sound....hmmm

Of corse it's obvious that the single track is the "ORIGINAL CLASSIC TRANCE MIX", but I have a old discography (from 1995) and they actually labled the second track on COMA7011/COMA127011 as: 5:40 What Time Is Love (techno slam mix) [extended] In that case I believe they are more correct, but i'm not shure! Have any of you noticed that there is in fact two versions of lttt (the iron horse)? The version on the french (dance pool) cd5 is slightly diffrent from the others! It also appers on the flip-side of COMA7014/COMA127014 but not on COMA CD7014. Very strange and also very KLF! mange --- Simon Glass <tygerbc@yahoo.com> wrote:

Not sure about the 12" or this fabled CD, but I own the Coma 7" and it is indeed mis-labelled, featuring the Primal remix rather than the Techno Slam mix. Personally I always liked these mixes, some of the weirdest around...they are indeed similar but if memory serves the Techno Slam mix is the noisiest, featuring more 'slam' sounds (the effect used at the end of the string part in LTTT) and the Primal remix contains more elements of the Pure Trance original, more melody. They are endearingly poorly mixed though, one even has half of a snare sound! If anyone has a mint copy of 004R by the way and will sell it to me for £18.00, let me know. Like the Moody Boys remixes, in my experience this 12" often seems to be in rather poor condition =( Same goes for the latter actually, although reduce that to £10.00! I would like to grab a good qual MP3 of the Virtual Reality mix, as it is unavailable on CD tbc.

Cheers, Mange

Isn't virtual reality mix on "Lost Sounds of Mu 1"? (Which, by a strange coincidence, I'm selling on Ebay today). Anyway ... this will be my last post about Ebay auctions for a while. Just to say, thanks to everyone who contacted me about my vinyl. Also please note I have a LOT going on this week. Next week I should be selling all the 2001 vinyl "reissues" ("1987", "Space", KLF8R, etc). And the week after that (3rd December) I'll be selling some more CDs and a white label promo with info sheet of "Space". The CDs I'm selling that week include import versions of "Stadium House" singles from Europe and various bootlegs bought from 1995 to 2004, including the mixes by ODC1 ("Chill Out" and "KLF remixes") which he sent me through the mail three years ago. I might also be selling the 7"s of "All You Need is Love", "3 AM (ENT)" and a promo with info sheet of "KSJT" from Appearing, along with the original Wau Mr Modo releases of "Kiss" and "Loving You" (if I can master them to CD in time). Incidentally, I have never heard anything from ODC1 since early 2003, so if he's reading this and does not want me to sell his CDRs - please e-mail me beforehand! And that's it. My e-bay name is "paranormalhandy". I promise you lot I won't bother you about this again, at least for a while. Just keep checking my auctions every Sunday night - the last ones before Christmas will go on 11th December, and then I'll start again 8th January. I put up 65 items on Ebay this week, about half KLF. For some reason, Ebay only lists me as having 60 items for sale, and I've worked out that 4 of the "missing" items are: DJ Kuta and C-Row CD, Justified & Ancient CD single, and the original LPs "1987" and "Who Killed the JAMs"! If they're not visible by Tuesday/Wednesday, then I'll probably stop the auctions, and re-list them. But it's a worrying development - probably something up with Ebay's listing process. Does anyone know anything about this? John

Try viewing them in the 'text mode" (see link at the upper right of the screen) - chances are they'll show up there. Because trying to contact eBay via email is usually a waste of time (they take forever to reply, even if you're a powerseller), I would suggest using the live support chat module. I've done this for the very same problem you're experiencing, and although it took them a few days to get it fixed, I no longer thave that problem. Wish I had a link handy for you, but I don't. Have the item #s handy which aren't showing up when you contact them. jeff
But isn't Lost Sounds of Mu really a bootleg, thus the Virtual Reality mix was 'mastered' from vinyl? But let me know if it sounds OK! Re. ODC1 as you know I was in touch with him briefly a while back, have 2 addresses for him but doubt he would be too bothered if you sold those CDs anyway! Weren't the White Room remixed MP3s on some special site until recently, with various pics taken around Wichita, Baton Rouge etc? Or were there just pics? He also had another non-KLF-related album of sorts available online which i have somewhere, interesting stuff, and he also pointed me to yet another remix of F*** the Millennium which i have been meaning to upload to the ftp for ages He also talked about remixing 'Gimpo Gimpo' but I guess that never happened! tbc.

What makes the CD so rare? Is it the "Techno Slam" mix, or just the fact the CD was a limited run?

Welcome, Mange!
Coma Records seem to have produced one of the rarest KLF CDs. It's COMA CD 7011, and includes the rare "Techno Gate" Mix from 1990, and the 1989 "Techno Slam" Mix, which is not available on CD anywhere else. If you have it, consider yourself lucky! I have never seen a copy, and from previous discussions on here, I don't think many other people have, either.

Cheers, Mange

My item turned up safe and sound today - thanks again John! -----Original Message----- From: klf-bounces+chris=k23productions.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:klf-bounces+chris=k23productions.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of John Milne Sent: 20 November 2005 09:52 To: All bound for Mu-Mu Land. Subject: Re: [KLF] Presentation (now ebay) Isn't virtual reality mix on "Lost Sounds of Mu 1"? Personally I always liked these mixes, some of the weirdest around...they are indeed similar but if memory serves the Techno Slam mix is the noisiest, featuring more 'slam' sounds (the effect used at the end of the string part in LTTT) and the Primal remix contains more elements of the Pure Trance original, more melody..
