The problem is , as well as MP3's, I've also added some files in the M4A ( Apple lossless ) format.
Not being an Apple user, nor having any of these files I can only guess, but it looks like there are several players which can decode these. WinAmp 5.02 being one of them. http://www.m4a.com/ BUT this does not appear to be a true lossless format, just a better lossy compression scheme. I've been noticing that FLAC has taken the forefront of lossless compression. There is a version for Max OS-X -- http://flac.sourceforge.net/ SHN is another format, also with a Mac version: http://research.umbc.edu/~hamilton/shnfaq.html -paul Currently in rotation: Sparks - Live in Stockholm; Brian Wilson - Smile; Fatboy Slim - Palookaville; Pet Shop Boys - Battleship Potemkin Live; KLF - History (custom)
Further to what Paul suggested, iTunes for Windows can play M4A files and I have converted them using DBpowerAMP Music Converter with the mp4 plugin. Don't know if it's free as I just seem to have a copy ;-) the plug in is though.
