Re: RE: Stadium House Timecoded Promo (Simon Glass)
Sounds like whoever made that tape (was that a Dutton job?) just left the counter on their VCR going with record OSD left on by mistake! All 'proper' timecoded stuff is a bit different - they're the video equivalent of the test pressing that are produced for people involved to check first, so the time is displayed fairly small to 10ths of a second with no shadows, and will appear in the black bars when viewed on a widescreen tv rather than embossed on the picture itself or top left on a standard tv (although how it knows where to position itself is a mystery to me!) Anyway it's got 5 days left on ebay so will have to be quick if anyone wants to rip it to preserve it for the archives. I doubt there's another one out there so it's probably a unique item now. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6396878944 Darren Message: 2 Date: Thu, 19 May 2005 12:37:52 -0700 (PDT) From: Simon Glass <tygerbc@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [KLF] RE: Stadium House Timecoded Promo To: "All bound for Mu-Mu Land." <klf@mailman.xmission.com> Message-ID: <20050519193752.27611.qmail@web52207.mail.yahoo.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" I have the old 'This is not what the klf are about' (or similar name) bootleg video tape from the mid 90s and the whole thing is timecoded, it's actually kinda annoying, large numbers 'embossed', kind of shadow effect, on the screen. I always assumed whoever made the compilation had it as a feature on their recording VCR and thought it would be a good idea =/ This includes the Stadium House Trilogy which is unsurprisingly one of the better quality recordings on the tape tbc. Going to chuck it on ebay over the weekend so would have to be someone local Darren
