I don't think there would ever be a problem of getting hold of the generic in house sleeve, but to run off an extra 100 on a 250 batch would be near impossible. What tends to happen is that there is either pare vinyl after a run, or a run is cut short but a few, this is wear the pressing plant guys get to work. Your always going to have spare sleeves and labels around. But in the case of a while label, no problem, just pop it into an in house sleeve. So many boots, are only really boots as they are not officially counted in the pressing run. I.e 250 92 promo 3's, with 5 run of by the pressing plant. -----Original Message----- From: klf-bounces+shrimpton.m=mellon.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:klf-bounces+shrimpton.m=mellon.com@mailman.xmission.com]On Behalf Of Chris Peel Sent: 13 January 2005 09:57 To: 'All bound for Mu-Mu Land.' Subject: RE: [KLF] Re: TOTP single If that's the case though - then how would you know whether a record is really rare or not? Let's say someone did this after the alleged run of 250 KLF 92 PROMO 3's so there are actually another 100 (for example) out there which were run off illegally. Assuming whoever did this had access to 100 KLF company sleeves (conceivable as they would have been shipped to the pressing plant) - you'd never know if you had one of the first 250 (i.e. 'genuine') or last 100 (i.e. 'extra') pressings. Given this, surely you'd have to treat all of the pressings as genuine? -----Original Message----- From: klf-bounces+chris=k23productions.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:klf-bounces+chris=k23productions.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Shrimpton Mark Sent: 13 January 2005 09:49 To: All bound for Mu-Mu Land. Subject: RE: [KLF] Re: TOTP single Yes, there are usualy extra labels in case of problems. This is why you see ex pressing plant employess with about half a dozen "rare" items. Most of the time they have done them thereself and reep the benifits from collectors when they sell them off. Just take a look at Queen. Some of there "run offs" go into thousands of pounds. -----Original Message----- From: klf-bounces+shrimpton.m=mellon.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:klf-bounces+shrimpton.m=mellon.com@mailman.xmission.com]On Behalf Of Chris Peel Sent: 13 January 2005 09:42 To: 'All bound for Mu-Mu Land.' Subject: RE: [KLF] Re: TOTP single That would explain it. Although the 5TOTP coloured/clear pressing I have are fully labelled up - would the workers have access to the labels (usually these are ordered in the same quantity as the pressing run?) as well? -----Original Message----- From: klf-bounces+chris=k23productions.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:klf-bounces+chris=k23productions.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Shrimpton Mark Sent: 13 January 2005 09:32 To: All bound for Mu-Mu Land. Subject: RE: [KLF] Re: TOTP single Its often quite common for pressing plant workers to "knock" off some pressings at the end of a run, say of 1000. That's why you see clear and coloured vinyl. all down to the employees of the plant. It was quite a common occurrence. FGTH have many coloured, clear vinyl pressings. -----Original Message----- From: klf-bounces+shrimpton.m=mellon.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:klf-bounces+shrimpton.m=mellon.com@mailman.xmission.com]On Behalf Of Chris Peel Sent: 12 January 2005 21:08 To: 'All bound for Mu-Mu Land.' Subject: RE: [KLF] Re: TOTP single I've got a mustard KLF5TOTP 7" - it's actually more 'tangerine orange' than mustard though. I've also got the clear version and a test pressing of it as well. I've also heard mention that only the black one is the genuine article and that the coloured (and clear) ones were pressed up by someone else. If that's true though, they must have had access to the plates as the markings on the run-outs are identical in all cases (and clear vinyl is quite expensive to press up?). I've also heard there were some blue versions of the 7" pressed - anyone know anything about these? I got into the klf after seeing the Ford Timelord in Charlton, SE London, going home and then seeing the 3am eternal video on TV. I put that down to fait, so this began my long arduous task of collecting "The KLF". i only had about 20 original items, the rest was recorded for me by a friend that had vast amounts of the stuff. Then i got a computer and BAM my credit cards were hammered. I will continue to collect and give the whole lot to my son (aged 20 months at present) when his 18 to do with as he pleases. or should i wait till he's 33 or even 45??? Would be nice to hear any other stories of how people began collecting "The KLF". Wizard Keep Listening Forever.. I'm thinking of aquiring a klf/2k credit card with the million pounds (looked burnt to me) i found in a suitcase at some museum just for buying klf material were i get 10% on purchases.. LOL.
