As an avid reader of NME from 90-96 I recall that around 1994 they had a small feature in the Vibes section on the Naturists. If i recall correctly it was complete with a pic of two blokes sitting side by side on a piano stool. The shot was taken from behind and they were naked apart from woolly hats on. I recall that the article mentioned the KLF as possibly behind them (though there were often stories at the time of their impending return because of their spectacular BRits stunt two yeats prior). I think the article referenced the KLF's final ad with the line about our 'disguise may be complete' and the irony that the naturists were naked (though otherwise anonymous and shadowy). I will try and dig the article out and investigate further. -----Original Message----- From: John Milne [mailto:Highlandland@btopenworld.com] Sent: 14 March 2003 08:01 To: klf@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [KLF] Re: sfx - lemmings song Hi! While we're on the subject on OT-ish CD singles, I have a copy of "Naked in the Rain" by the Naturist (or "the Naturists") which came out on Interactive in 1994. It is a radical cover of the Blue Pearl 1989 original, featuring the chorus done in an "all lad's together" male chant, very similar to "Doctorin' the Tardis", and the whole thing hangs together over a "Glitter beat", again similar to KLF3. Since "Naked in the Rain" obvious has Jimmy Cauty/Youth connections, does anyone know who the Naturist/s is or are? Or were? Are we dealing with another, unacknowledged, KLF reference - as the whole thing sounds uncannily like the Timelords only number one hits single!
