Was I the only one who actually stumbled across "3 AM Eternal" by accident last night? I was driving home in the ice and snow and skipping between channels (Melvyn Bragg discussing quantum mechanics on Radio 4, Noddy Holder playing records with Mark Radcliffe for "Children in Need" on Radio 2) when I happened to switch over to Annie Mac about 10.30 - and "3 AM Eternal" was just starting, right at the "Radio Freedom" intro (what was the other track she played, btw?) As it played, I started to notice that subconciously I was driving like Jimmy in the "Embankment" video (looking moodily into the mirror, turning the wheel in a bored fashion, etc. etc.) which probably wasn't the cleverest thing to do during the coldest night of the year! However - there was something I wanted to ask list members. Did anyone tape the whole show (I think you did Andrew, didn't you?) The first track Annie played last night was a bootleg mix of "Voodoo Ray", produced by a DJ in Northern Ireland, and I would love an mp3 of it. If anyone has a copy of this track, they can either e-mail it to me, or upload it to the files section of: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/klf-history/ (I've removed a couple of mp3s, so there's about 7 megs of room now). I've not posted 4 ages and missed tonights posts about tonights Annie Mac show. However, my work colleague (who knows I'm a KLF nut) phoned me on his way back from a meeting in the Isle of Man and caught me as I entered my Local ... (pub for you all non-UK-linguistics) and told me that on an advert for tonight's show Annie Mac was doing (in his words) 'a hours show all about the KLF;'.
I broke with tradition, and amazed drinking friends by leaving the church of the alcohol waaaay before any student could admit defeat, and was home by 9.05pm UK time.
So I whacked the PC on, told it to record from 9:10pm and 11:10pm and what did I get after eventually coming home at (currently 5:04am) ?????
Two KLF tracks, A wholly innacurate 'history' of Bill & Jimmy ('they realeased two albums, '1987' and 'Shag Times' before they decided to try commercial success and had a #1 with Doctorin the Tardis') and a good mention of The KLF being the biggest selling UK artists of 1991.
The children of today need to know the TRUE story of Bill and Jimmy's exploits, if only to prove and explain to them that the Pop industry does not have defined rules.
AAAnyway - I've recorded the Annie Mac show as a .wav file, and will Upload the KLF bits to Rob's server soon (If it's OK).
