Blah, KLF stoled almost every-fucking-thing they did! I dont hear you whine about that, but when it's Scooter!!!! BULLSHIT.
Ahem... "Scooter stoled almost every-fucking-thing they did!"
Either chords, melodies, samples, lyrics, video clips... almost every Scooter single that went big was stolen in one way or the other.
The Age of Love - melody of Terminator theme by Brad Fiedel Back in the UK - melody of Miss Marple How much is the fish - melody of an old folk song (german ?) Posse - bassline of What Time Is Love by James Cauty / William Drummond Ramp! (the logical song) - melody and vocals of another oldie of which I forgot the artist Nessaja - melody and vocals (translated) of a song by Peter Maffay
Samples / Parts of vocals ("All aboard, all aboard", "Ok everybody lie down on the floor and keep calm", "Kick out the JAMS", hard drum from What Time Is Love - and this is just the KLF section!)
...
Should I go on ?
I LIKE Scooter's work. I liked them before they sampled any KLF, and now I like them even more. I dont give a fuck if Boyzone will decide to do a remake of J&A, fuck maybe I'll like that too!
Now that´s not the point we are all complaining about. Kerosene did a cover of 3 a.m. eternal and I think it is brilliant, but they didn´t went out and entered the charts with it without giving credit to the original artist.
And btw, Kuta, you stoled from the KLF too on your tracks or maybe when YOU do it it's ok and you call it SAMPLE.
See answer above.
The problem is that Scooter don´t tell that IT IS STOLEN. They go out and sell it as their own ideas, milking other artists and their work (Brad Fiedel, Cauty/Drummond, Ultrasonic, ...). The idea for "Hyper Hyper" was a total rip off, and where would Scooter be nowadays without this piece of music ?
NOWHERE.

Ok, to get a more complete listing... :-) 1. Hyper Hyper - heavily "influenced" (ahem) by Ultrasonic 2. Back in the UK - covers the melody of Ron Goodwin's "Murder She Said" (main theme of "Miss Marple") 3. Rebel Yell - covers the song by Billy Idol (1983) 4. I´m Raving - covers the song "Walking in Memphis" by Marc Cohn (1991) 5. The Age of Love - covers the Terminator theme by Brad Fiedel 6. No Fate - either covers or samples Zyon's "No Fate" 7. How Much Is The Fish - german folk song ("Was wollen wir trinken - sieben Tage lang") 8. Posse - bass line of What Time Is Love (which has been ripped from Andrew Lloyd Webber´s musical "Jesus Christ Superstar", but with all the KLF influences, I think it is obvious that they ripped it from the KLF´s 1988 rave anthem) 9. Fuck The Millennium - some versions of the song play a sample from Billy Vaughn´s "Wheels" (1961) 10. Aiii Shot The DJ - samples Bob Marley´s "I shot the sheriff" 11. Ramp (The Logical Song) - covers Supertramp´s "The Logical Song" (1979) 12. Nessaja - covers the song "Nessaja" (1993) by Peter Maffay and Rolf Zukowski 13. I was made for lovin' you - written by KISS in 1979 14. Am Fenster - written by City in 1974 15. Eyes without a face - written by Billy Idol in 1984 What next ?
You forgot: Let Me Be Your Valentine, they used the 'Mu-Mu' from WTIL? So? Scooter already said once on MTV europe that they are KLF fans. I dont think that they really wanna be the KLF, to me sampling another band is showing rezpect to it. KLF admitted to stole from the PSB disco album grooves and shit, I never saw any credit for that and for a lot of other riffs also, unless I need to refresh my memory. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas Touzimsky" <thomas@klf.de> To: <klf@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Friday, April 19, 2002 5:52 PM Subject: [KLF] Bad Scooter

Well maybe Scooter should start branching out a little and paying respect to *other* people except the KLF...?! Sampling goes on all the time. However most of it is from diverse sources and subtle enough that often it goes unnoticed or unchallenged ("What Time Is Love" borrowing a riff from "Jesus Christ Superstar" for example). The reason that Scooter get on the nerves of KLF fans is that they directly, regularly, and unimaginatively sample large and easily recognisable chunks and ideas from Drummond & Cauty, and not enough credit is given, all things considered. Scooter have sampled or quoted the KLF so many times now that it's gone beyond respect, it's taking the piss. It's become very clear that they don't have any ideas of their own. Except for the idea of doing wholesale ripoffs of a highly successful band who actively espouse copyright violation. You may not like the idea, but it's a pretty compelling one if you've got no talent and want to be a star. -- "There ain't nothin' worse than some fool lyin' on some third world beach in spandex psychedelic trousers smokin' damn dope pretendin' he gettin' consciousness expansion." - The Rev. This song contains samples from Scotland National Pipe and from KLF - Make It Rain too :-)

I quite like Liberty 3... hands up who has a copy?
Hi All,
4. I´m Raving - covers the song "Walking in Memphis" by Marc Cohn (1991)
this was covered? back in the early 90's (before scooter) as "I'm Raving", so does that make it a cover of a cover? :-) as i understand the story[1] it was released[2] as a white label and it was extremely popular. so they tried to release it as a proper official release, and got threatened with heavy legal stuff. supposedly it was to have been withdrawn from sale and marked never to be released. but in the years since then, i've heard it occasionly, in a slightly different form each time. the only version[3] i have is a rm file of "shut up and dance[4]" doing it. time passed, Scooter[5] formed & started covering songs and the rest is history. i had thought though that it was a much older track than 91. a quick google shows heaps of hits. http://users.bestweb.net/~ecnev/mc/lyrics/wim.html - says its copyright 1990 by cohn. http://www.geocities.com/memphis_angelpig/memphis/walkinginmemphis.html says its Tennessee Williams which would make it a lot older. but i'm too lazy to find more (plus explorer crashed :-( gotta run brendan 1- bear in mind i was in perth so its not like i was in a position to know the complete nothing but the truth story. 2- i dont know who did the white label. 3- I actually bought a compilation cd that listed "i'm raving" hoping it was the one i refer to above. unfortunately it was a different "cover". this time to the tune of "i'm sailing"? i think it was the from the score to "johnathon livingston seagull"? if you're really curious, email me and i'll knockup a mp3 or something. 4- has anyone got "diary of a crackhead" by "shutup and dance" ? ideally you'd have the 12inch that it was on with "the green room". i'd love to get mp3's of those tracks. i've got the vinyl back in storage at my parents but it hasnt seen light of day for 8 years or so. 5- just cos i'm too lazy to search now, when did scooter form and what was their first hit? what happened to ultrasonic? i'm guessing that ultrasonic disbanded, there was a vacuum in the market for whateverstyleitscalled, and marketing said "we need another ultrasonic" so scooter was formed? probably better to reply offlist.

i *think* i saw shut up & dance playing it last summer but my memory's not too clear wasn't it they who did the original, before scooter did their version?
