Actually the White Room would prove pretty hard to encode without artifacts because the original film is very grainy. Film grain is one of the biggest problems compression needs to overcome.

and believe me...if I had a DVD-R (and knew all dvd players could support it (at least mine can) I would be moving all my videos over to DVD with cool menus and the lot..most of the vids are in a bit lower res format, but I'm sure that I could do video out to VCR, and video in to a higher res format..without loosing too much.. then one wouldn't have to worry about those lovely "digital artifacts" that are so annoying..
